it's ok,I fixed it.  It was that I hadn't removed the old preferences folder at ~/.sabnzbd and it was causing an overwrite of settings.
rm -f ~/.sabnzbd fixed this and allowed me to reconfig from scratch.

Found out through support chat, there is also a folder at ~/.sabnzbd which is used if nothing is found at ~/Library/Application Support/SabNZBd so delete this folder too.
It is hidden so open terminal and type:
rm -f ~/.sabnzbd

hope this helps anyone else with this problem!

I tried trashing the app, and the folder in ~/Library/Application Support but when I restart and download the app fresh, the old details appear in Application Support folder again!  There must be files I'm missing.  Can someone let me know exactly where they are please?
