Frugalusenet intermittently work with SAB

Post by nzbtuxnews »

Hello

I have registered to Frugalusenet a few weeks ago, and immediately procedded to reconfigure my servers in SAB. The issue is that SAB seems not capable of working with Frugal's servers very well. In the main webinterface, I see tons of the following error message:

Code: Select all

"Cannot connect to server eunews.frugalusenet.com [Authentication failed, check username/password.]".
First thing I did was of course check if my credentials are correct, and they are. I can also login with the same credentials on their website to go to my account, and my newznab+ indexer is also working just fine with the same credentials. When I go to the server config page in SAB, and hit the "test" button underneath the frugal servers, I get a message saying "Authentication failed, check username/password.". If I change a setting in the server's config (lets say SSL setting) from "Default" to "TLS v1" and save the config, hitting the test button will work with "Connection Successful". But if I try again to test, it will fail again with "Authentication failed, check username/password." Same if I revert the SSL config to "Default", it will work the first time I test it, then fail indefinitely.

All other servers are working (Astraweb, Blocknews) with the same SSL settings (Default) except Frugal. I have this problem with both the Frugal US and EU servers, so I wonder, is it a problem with their servers or is it a bug in SAB? I never saw this kind of issue with 0.7.x.

I am running SAB from Git clone (0.8.x [unknown])

Thanks to whoever can shed light on this annoying issue...

I thought restarting SAB did the trick but after about an hour idle, I just sent a job to the queue and I am being flooded with "Cannot connect to server eunews.frugalusenet.com [Authentication failed, check username/password.]"

Testing the server in servers config page also yields to a wrong username or password error.

Connecting to the servers was working just fine within 5 minutes after restarting SAB but now it no longer works.

Damn I have to stop everything or I will eat away my block accounts..

Edit: I just discovered that SAB is downloading from one of the Frugal servers but still complains about wrong username or password. Im baffled..

Start by lowering the nummer of connections to frugal to ... 1. Stop sabnzbd for 5 minutes, and start again.

I get this with Frugal as well, not any other servers.

If I set it to the max allowed connections they allow, eventually it will be too much and they will lock you out for some reason. Reduce it by 1-2 connections and keep it at that, it's the only fix I've found.

Reducing the number of connections by a few seems to help a lot. Actually, the number of connections in SAB should be the max number allowed by the USP minus whats being used for other services (such as newznab)...

What happened I think was that between SAB and newznab, I was exceeding the max 50 allowed by Frugal..

Thanks for pointing that out and the help!
