MKV to MP4 for New Apple TV for Synology NAS Plex/SImplex

Long-time-fan, first time poster.

So, I bought a new Apple TV yesterday. Its great, and the Plex App just came hot off the press.

The problem is that I have an old 1511 model, which works well, but transcoding is a motherf***er, and chokes my NAS. I know that MKV can be converted to MP4 which I can direct-stream with Simplex (Plex does not yet allow it). MKVs are unfortunatelly not supported in either, which is a bummer.

Anyways, I am wondering if there is a post-proccessing script I can run that would convert/extract to APPLTV compatibility. I know such scripts exist using FFMPEG, but I have 0 knowledge using them or how to set them up.

I am asking a lot. I know, but what I also know is that this will be a recurring problem. I may be the first to ask it, but I certainly wont be the last.

Can someone help?

Hi Milkman,

If you're using windows this may work for you. You'll probably have to edit it but it's got the ffmpeg syntax in it.

I use iDealshare VideoGo to convert MKV to MP4 for Apple TV.
