Deleting \\?\C:\... failed! messages

Post by metec »

I don't have enough space on my Windows Server so I'm using a symlink mapped to a NAS (Temp folder). The instructions clearly state that this is not supported but it appears that everything is working as expected except for the error messages:

Deleting \\?\C:\SAB-Downloads\.... failed!

Despite the errors, the files are actually deleted. My only question is, is it possible to suppress these errors so they do not clutter up the SABnzbd homepage?

I'm sorry, but the error messages are significant for most users.
BTW: which "instructions" are you talking about?

Thanks for your reply. I absolutely understand that this is crucial information for most users. I was just wondering if there was any way to manually filter out the messages in my specific scenario. I tried to find where I initially read that the incomplete folder cannot be set to a network drive but all I could find was the FAQ:

http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq
You currently cannot use this for the incomplete folder in windows due to a par2 bug.
When a download completes successfully, nothing is left in the temp folder as expected despite the error messages. If this is something unique to my setup then no big deal, I can deal with the messages. Unless, you think this is a bug then I'd be happy to troubleshoot it further if you'd like.

Thanks!

This means that you cannot use notation like \\server\path, but that you always must use a drive letter.
This is not the problem in your situation.
Symlinks should be invisible, but it looks like Microsoft didn't make them transparent enough.
I'll have a look at this later.
BTW: we do strongly recommend against using non-local storage for "incomplete".
It often has issues due to lack of transparency and you may also saturate the network
that you're trying to download over.
