History shows proper filename, but not so in directory

Post by EnnZeeBee »

I face this strange situation with a few downloads: History in SABnzbd shows the (expected) proper filename of the download, but in the actual download directory the filename is a series of characters, for example 9b85b8d91e064145b76b3e5875b85f7f.mkv. Is there a way to fix this so that the filename in SABnzbd's History is used as the filename of the downloaded file? As I wrote above, this doesn't happen all the time, but obviously SABnzbd must have got the filename from somewhere in order to show it in the History section.

Running Windows 11 with v.35.1. RC2

Yes, enable Deobfuscate final filenames in Config > Switches.

Thanks, it is already enabled, but unfortunately it doesn't work in this case.

I would be very surprised if it did not.
Can you enable Debug logging in the Status window and download the file again? Click Show Logging in the Status window, it will be anonymous.
Then share the log with us through pastebin or send it to me at [email protected]

I'll do as you ask, but in the meantime I noticed that if I download the same file from NzbPlanet and NzbGeek the first one is properly dealt in the download directory whereas the second one results in the string of characters as I described. Also the first one is downloaded outside (one level above) the expected downloads directory whereas the second one ends in the expected directory.

Email sent as the log file was too big for pastebin.

Ha, you run into a very specific edge case:
Your show has "Proof" in the name and as such it is detected as a "sample" and not renamed nicely.

Thank you for the information, but does it explain why the same name show downloaded from two different indexers is renamed properly in one case, but not the other?

Created a bug ticket to see if we can improve this.

You are seeing the difference because one of them is placed in the right category (series), based on the extra tags in the NZB provided by the indexer while the other probably does not have the extra tags and is not placed in the right category (it's in Default category).
