Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.
But can't get it to work since the email.tmpl isn't anywhere to be found, i only find the config_email.tmpl.
And the Wiki just get me confused: "Below is the standard template, called email.tmpl, which is located in the program folder of SABnzbd." ?!?
Unfortunately the email.tmpl file will only be present in the 0.5 and later releases. The user who wrote that article is using the latest development version which features more advanced email control.
You will have to wait until version 0.5 is release for the tip in that thread to work.
