Help. Can't make a new server:(

Post by andready »

When I am trying to make a new new server on my QNAP ts-119 in SABnzbd, I get this message:

Incorrect parameter
Server address "europe.news.astraweb.com:8080" is not valid.

The error is only on the Qnap. When I download SABnzbd to my laptop on the same network and with the same setting, everything works perfect.
I have tryed to reinstall SABnzbd+ and Python.

I use: europe.news.astraweb.com and 8080

Please help

:)

It looks like your QNAP cannot translate server names to IP addresses.
So you either try to fix the QNAP or use the numeric IP address for Astra:
193.202.122.125:8080

I could make a server with the IP adresse, but no I get this message:
2009-09-17 10:07:50,610 ERROR [downloader] Connecting [email protected]:8080 failed, message=502 Login from multiple ips not allowed. Already logged in from 195.137.194.64

????

PS. I can remote the Qnap from work, so I think it's on the net:)

It's downloading now, but why do I get all the errors???

"It looks like your QNAP cannot translate server names to IP addresses"
Why did it work before, with the server address and how do I fix it again?

This is strange....

I have the same setup (QNAP TS119) and have the same problem....

However, unsure if your answer is entirely correct in that I successfully setup SABnzbd with my default server as "europe.news.astraweb.com:119" but I am getting the "Incorrect parameter: Server address "blah.blah" is not valid. " message when attempting to add more servers (to try out using a back-up server and also maybe resetting my default server to SSL)

Is this perhap what andready is querying in the last statement of the previous post?

I'll have to see if I can find the numeric ip address of the SSL server I was going to use and see if that helps.

The QNAP needs to do proper DNS name to IP translation.
Test this using a terminal window and either the ping or the nslookup command.
I'm not familiar with QNAPs so I don't know how to fix it.

Probably something wrong with your name resolving, which is probably caused by a malfunction of your router/mode or maybe your ISP.

Workaround: turn off your QNAP, then turn off your modem & router, wiat 15 seconds, turn on your modem/router, then wait 2 minutes and turn on your QNAP. Hopefully everything is OK then.

The IP address 195.137.194.64 belongs to Danmarks Radio Net. Does that ring a bell? Is 195.137.194.64 your own IP address? Check (from your home LAN) by going to http://www.whatsmyip.org/

Are you sharing the account with somebody else, or with a downloading app on another location or network?

Hi, just a quick update for you information....

I setup the SSL server using numeric ip address which worked fine.

Now, as stated above, I'd previously setup the 'main' server when I first setup SABnbzd using "europe.news.astraweb.com:119" which was previously working fine also.

I attempted changing this (as I will now use the SSL server as my main feed) but the error was thrown up "Incorrect parameter: Server address "blah.blah" is not valid. "

So, I'm just pointing out that this is strange that the original working server address all of a sudden cannot be recognised, when all I attempted was to change one of it's settings.

The DNS settings on your QNAP are likely not set up at all, correctly, or is just not working.

When SABnzbd adds a server, it does a dns lookup on the hostname. For the "Server address xxxxxxx is not valid" error, it is usually means the internet connection is not working, or your DNS settings are not correct/working. This has nothing to do with SABnzbd as it uses standard python function that uses network settings passed to it by your operating system.

.......
Thanks for the response......you have indeed pointed out my problem, so thank you very much.

I have just looked at the QNAP settings and see that the DNS wasn't setup correctly.  ::)

I won't bore you with the details but, in short, I presumed it was set correctly when the QNAP was initially setup but having looked into it a bit more I realise it wasn't, I just never knew because my QNAP has, until now, only been used within my own network.

Mmmmh, I'm just wondering now whether this may have some bearing on the problems I've been having with the newzbin integration of SABnzbd.....off I go for more testing.  :-[
