Just about every download fails with crc errors

Post by Stanknuggets »

This by chance may not have anything to do with SAB directly, but i figure i'll try here first. Probably17 out of my last 20 snatches have failed with crc errors and pars won't fix them. It seems like the failing downloads are over 2GB in size.
Here is a list of snaches that have completed successfully:
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=440331&hit=1
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=522416&hit=1
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=527332&hit=1

And these have failed
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=528311&hit=1
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=540132&hit=1
http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb-details.php?id=540054&hit=1
this list could go awhile so i'll stop there.

This is really beginning to piss me off, especially after finally joining Astraweb now that the free ipv6 is as reliable as it was.

Here is my SAB.ini file

What happens if you re-download on of the failing downloads
without any post-processing and run QuickPar and WinRar manually?

Or use the supplied utilities.
Open a command prompt (you need to adjust some names).

Code: Select all

cd /d "d:\completed job folder"
"c:\program files (x86)\SABnzbd\win\par2\x64\par2.exe" r *.par2
"c:\program files (x86)\SABnzbd\win\par2\x64\unrar.exe" x first-rarfile.rar

W/o post processing, SAB of course says it is completed, but after i run quickpar(haven't run a sfv or unrar yet) it will find broken files. Maybe I am using quickpar wrong, i open the first par2 file, let it run, says it is ready to repair with 13/20 repair blocks then does it's thing and says ready to reapir with 14/20 repair blocks and so on. this most of the time goes on until it gets to 20/20, then will say there is a memory fault. I'm not sure what to do with the other par2

cd /d "d:\completed job folder"

"c:\program files (x86)\SABnzbd\win\par2\x64\unrar.exe" x first-rarfile.rar
Should i try these command lines with no post processing from SAB?

Someone on another forum said to change it to something other than what i had because it was disabled if i remember right.
I was getting an OCTAL error message whenever i would start up SAB and changing stopped the error message.

That's a bug in 0.4.12.
It's not used but evaluated nevertheless.

I've been seeing a lot of CRC errors in downloads in the past week or so. As a test, I re-downloaded the same files via alt.binz and it was able to complete successfully. I've now tried this with 3 previous failures, and they all have completed successfully via alt.binz.

It seems to be occurring only with larger downloads (DVD copies), as TV shows and the like have been fine.

I posted seperatly  about a similar problem, although suspect the cause could be memory related http://forums.sabnzbd.org/index.php?topic=3078.0.

I tried downloading the same file on two machines (11GB mkv), both using the latest version of sabnzbd, the osx machine failed with CRC errors, but succeeded on my Vista64 machine.

The OSX release of 0.4.12 still uses unrar 3.80, which doesn't have a very
good reputation.
Please switch to 0.5.0Beta1 (which contains unrar 3.90)

Just a quick update on this.. I upgraded to the SABnzbd Beta 0.50 version today, and so far, two of the failed ones now completed successfully. (This is after completely deleting the original files and starting over). So there was something in the 0.42 version that was causing the CRC failures.

any chance there is a file size glitch? i've gotten numerour dvdrips to complete, but anything over 2.27GB fails (2.27gb was the largest that passed, 2.62gb  was the smallest to fail)  ???

I think i'm going to uninstall SAb, then reinstall it. see if that helps.
