Hi, I'm a newbie needing help with nzb files. I'm using Newsbin & Sab and it all works fine with my bookmarks etc using the Newsbin Menu & search for ie stuff in Apps. What I can't figure is when I search Usenet Raw, I create an nzb when I see an item & it downloads the ID & date etc onto a Folder with nothing in it, fine.
I then go to my Sab home page and and locate the Id, ie in the last test i got "_FAILED_selected_files_20091225-174502"
I tried putting this in either "add report" or "add file" but nothing shows up in the Queue. Is "Failed" the reason it won't work? I'm assuming that as long as I have the 6 number ID it should search for it if I enter that in "report Id"
Are there other parameters I need to enter.
I've scouted the usual FAQ's but can't locate the help info.
Thanks for any help

Are you downloading the NZB file and then adding it to SABnxbd? are you using the beta version?

Re: Getting these darn nzb files!
Hi, I'm using SABnzbd+ 4.12. Windows XP, Zonealarm, Avast A/v.
I did find one answer to my Qs in that I should use the left hand menu "Add report" for the ID number as the "add file" is for uploading files. But when I put the 6 number ID in "Add report Id / url" and click the ADD button nothing seems to happen. Even if anyone could point me to a help page related to this would be great.
Have a good one.

Do you have a (paid) newzbin account and did you fill in
your username and password in Config->Newzbin correctly?
Have you tried using another skin?

Yeah Shypike, fully paid up Newsbin. As I said I can download most things if it is a straightforward case of "Add to bookmarks" using Newsbin .... then over to SAB - Config - Newsbin - "get bookmarks now" and they appear in downloads folder no problem. Its this nzb thing that confuses me. I'm probably greener than most. I havnt figured how to read the newsgroups yet, maybe thats connected?
Ive read that the Firefox add-on sabnzbfirefox might be helpful?
But like most geeks its driving me nuts not knowing how to work this.
cheers

Re: Getting these darn nzb files!
I I know were you're going wrong. The 174502 isn't a report ID. It's the time you created the NZB to download from Newzbin. So putting this number back into SAB after a failed download wont work. Newzbin ID's are 7 digit long.piratepatch wrote:I then go to my Sab home page and and locate the Id, ie in the last test i got "_FAILED_selected_files_20091225-174502"

Re: Getting these darn nzb files!
Hey tnx for getting back Eejit, I certainly feel like one, to use the Glasgow parlance. I did download the Mozilla add on "Sabnzbdfox" & it worked no bother, & makes things easier for me. I still don't know how to get nzb's with just SAB & Newsbin, but Way to go Firefox. I can't stand Explorer. I learned that the "History" tab will tell me if it worked & if it says "failed" then it did, usually due to the file no longer being kept on the server. I think I was a bit unlucky in the nzb's I was testing it on.
It's a steep learning curve for me, but I'm getting there.
Thanks for the help & advice.
cheers to everyone who's rocking with SAB+ Newsbin & Firefox
