Free Newsservers
Re: Free Newsservers
I'm using the same thing. I think they are no other servers right now except that one.
Re: Free Newsservers
Ok then my hours of searching and finding nothing but that 1 was worth it. Thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right spots. I thought maybe there were 1 or 2 more free ones that limited bandwidth a lot, but I found nothing with movies on it anyways. Thanks for the input here!

Re: Free Newsservers
Anyway can you share your findings, even the ones that didn't have movies on them?
Cheers

Re: Free Newsservers
Well I'm currently downloading a TV show in HDTV/x264 from 2 free news servers:sc0re wrote: newszilla6.xs4all.nl is the only server I can connect to right now for free for the last week. Is there another server working right now? I am using the ipv6 tunnel.
- reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119: 8 connections
- newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119: 3 connections
So do check xsnews.nl.
I don't know if you have to register with them, though?...
But if you do, it's free.
Cheers

Re: Free Newsservers
Ok, posted at their forum in http://forum.xsnews.nl/ .
Used google translate because it's in Dutch but there were a couple of guys that answered in English.
http://forum.xsnews.nl/viewtopic.php?p=19485#p19485
They say that sometimes it is open for subscription of free IPv6 accounts.
You can ask for a free account putting your email address in http://www.xsnews.com/ipv6/ipv6_aanvraag.php .
Cross your fingers and hope they have vacant accounts.
Please acknowledge that speeds haven't been terrific lately.
I can pull from them at 150kbps with up to 8 connections.
I think the original poster could (or should) edit his post to include this info in order to make it available to a wider audience.
Cheers

Re: Free Newsservers
I can easily max out my cable internet connection with xsnews and xs4all. This is at 2.5MB/s.
Do note that with Teredo, I'll see about 700KB/s-1400KB/s using both servers. By using Hurricane Electric (I've got a relay about 20 miles away), I can max out easily.
I haven't ever tried HE on campus though, but I will someday to see how fast I can actually get to xsnews and xs4all (I get 100mbps or roughly 12MB/s on campus).

Re: Free Newsservers
Ever since I added xsnews to my list of servers to download from I get many errors with files that don't work until I delete them and re-download without the xsnews server in my list. (ipv6 tunnel) Would like 2 know if any1 else is also having these issues.

Re: Free Newsservers
hi,
is there any free NS still working?
Since about a week can't connect/dl any more.
Even ping -6 reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl times out.
