SMPT / Port ?

Post by catbert »

Hi

This is an odd issue - my email provider (I have a private email account) has recently changed the outgoing smtp port to 1025 - while this works fine in outlook / windows live mail etc, I cannot get it to work with SABNZBD - it didn't work in 0.4.12, and doesn't work in the 0.5 beta 6 either.

I know the help page says I should put :

smtp.mymailserver.whatever:portnumber

- for using custom ports, but it just doesn't work - I get 'ERROR: Failed to connect to mail server' each and every time.

Logs show :
>>>>>>>>>>>
2010-01-17 01:21:51,515::INFO::[email:55] Connecting to server smtp.mymailserver.whatever:1025
2010-01-17 01:21:51,515::ERROR::[email:74] Failed to connect to mail server
>>>>>>>>>>>

Any ideas ?

It's not that much of an issue, but I do miss my emails from sabnzbd telling me when my jobs have downloaded :(

Thanks

catbert

We simply cannot support each individual mail server.
Most should just work.
Does your provider require a user name and password?
Do you have a "clever" firewall or virus-scanner that attempts to block outgoing email?
McAfee caught me once like this.

If your mail server really is not supported, you could open
a gmail account and have that account auto forward to
your favorite email account.

Thiing is, it was working fine with the mail server until they changed the port to '1025' from the standard port.

As I said, it's not really an issue for me - I'll just set up a gmail account like you suggested.

BTW - loving the latest release, I no longer get the rss-scanner-stopping-issue that I used to in the 0.4.xx releases !

Thanks, and keep up the great work !
