RSS feed on HTTPS doesn't work - BETA5+6 on ReadyNAS NV+

Post by chinchin »

Version: 0-5-0 BETA5+6
OS: Linux - not sure how to determine version on ReadyNAS NV+
Install-type:python source
Skin: Plush
Firewall Software: None
Are you using IPV6? no
Is the issue reproducible? yes

Hi, first time posting a 'bug' (could just be user error of course) so hopefully the details above are correct. Anyway if you try say NZBs(dot)ORG via the RSS which they now allow access through HTTPS this doesn't work but will if you use HTTP.

I tested this with just the PREVIEW button to make life nice and easy and you will easily spot the fact of when it can and cannot pull the feed.
Please let me know if I can provide more data or if this isn't in scope.
Cheers

Do you have the required SSL libraries installed?
You can check by looking at Config->Servers,
do you have SSL tick boxes there?

Hi Shypike,
Yes I have pyOpenSSL installed which I use for my connection to the servers and they're working fine.
Are there any logs I should upload or something? I've tried turning my logging to debugging and it doesn't say anything worth mentioning.

I should have asked: can you access other RSS sites through https?
Must say that I haven't tried any https access to RSS feeds, except newzbin-dot-com,
because most don't offer it.
I'll check.

https to nzbs.org works here.

I still think it must be something in your setup.
You need PyOpenSSL, which depends on proper OpenSSL libraries.
Does any other SSL related function in SABnzbd work?

Hmm I thought so because I'm able to access the SSL connection to the servers. Is there anyway that I can determine the pyOpenSSL-0.9 dependencies as I have that already installed  :-\

If SSL traffic to your usenet server works, then PyOpenSSL should be OK.
No idea what's going on here.
