Hello,
I'm using 0.50 beta 5 at the moment, and I just orderd a second account with my news provider. I got a second set of account details, but I have to connect to the same hostname. But it is not possible to add two servers with the same hostname, this means I cannot use both servers. Is it at all possible to connect to the same server with two different logins or not? Is this fixable?
Greets.
add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts

Re: add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts
Most providers allow you to use different port numbers.
This is enough to make the servers "unique".
If that isn't possible you may can the numerical IP address for one of them.
The current method of distinguishing between servers isn't ideal,
but we're not going to change it so close to 0.5.0Final.

Re: add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts
Ahh.. I see,
I understand that this implementing this will be a big deal. But can I safely assume from what your saying that it would be a possibility if implemented of course (I mean that it's currently only a sabnzbd issue??). I know that some servers offer different port numbers, but mine doesn't (only one for ssl which consumes CPU power). At the moment mine has some different hostnames also, but that will soon change (they will go back to only one hostname), thats why I'm asking. I will certainly try the ip address trick.
Thx.

Re: add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts
Are you sure they only allow one port for SSL? Which provider?
Try 443 and 563

Re: add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts
Indeed I only have one port for SSL (563) and one port for normal (119) download, currently using eweka newsserver. I tried the IPaddress trick and this works, I can now have two diferent logins to the same server and the same port . Hope I wont have to use three anytime soon.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: add two servers with the same hostname but different accounts
Why would anyone want to have 3 accounts at the same provider? Choosing 2 or 3 different providers gives you: More speed, reliability if one has network problems and maybe even less repairing because one provider might have a part that another provider lacks....
