NZBdroid

Post by nyquildotorg »

Being a fan of both sabnzbd+ and Google's Android device, I took it upon myself to create a client for sabnzbd that runs on Android.

NZBdroid is now available on the Android Marketplace.  While lacking many features, the really important stuff is there.

On nzb search engines that return direct links to nzb files, one can simply click on them in Android's browser and my app will fire the url off to your sabnzbd installation.  In in-development version also downloads nzbs to the device and uploads them to sabnzbd via POST.  (This latter bit is proving to be a challenge, as T-Mobile seems to be doing something that mangles the nzb files in transit from binsearch.info and some other sites that require the use of a 'submit' button.  Hopefully I can get the problems worked out.)

Here's a little video of it in action (the Android emulator run's veeeerrry slowly on my computer, though, so it's very sluggish-looking):

Future plans are to display/edit the queue right in the app rather than pointing the web browser to sabnzbd, as well as seeing the current status.  (Neither the queue nor history work for me on Windows via the API, either before or after the 1.4.9 apikey update.  Hopefully this gets fixed soon so I can use it.)

One nice thing is that I have it scraping the apikey so that the user doesn't have to type it in.  It REALLY sucked typing it in manually before I had the brainstorm to just scrape it.

Anyway, I figured there might be some Android users here who haven't noticed it in amongst all the flashlights and tip calculators in the Marketplace.

I would love this app, but it doesn't work
Either because of isues with version 0.4.11 or because i run it hidden behind apache2's proxypass as documented on the wiki page.
Please have a look at this...
Installation issue is fixed now with help of author: you must not enter "/sabnzbd" in the Host field, it's auto-appended by NZBdroid...
but this app does not work yet with newzbin; but author is already looking into this (to just transmit newzbin-ID i.s.o. full nzb file)

sadly, it looks like nzbdroid does not work with 0.5.0beta1.  Hopefully the developer updates it.

I can't seem to get it to work with version 0.5.6
From a remote webbrowser (like from work  ::)) I'm able to connect to the SABnzbd server at home.
But when entering the same parameters in NZBdroid it gives the following message after clicking 'fetch API key and finish setup':
"API key not found. check username/password/url."

Please some help
