I can't see anything that is wrong in your logging, also I tried Avira AntiVir and it had no problems.

Yes, only once at a time.
First is when I reinstalled the programm and let it start 'automaticly'.
Second time from the desktop icon
Thrid time by means of the SABnzbd-console.exe
Shutdown the programm the first two times with TaskExplorer2005 [German replacement of the Cntr-Alt-Del]

Every time Firefox opens a window with the 'not compatible' error message.

The "incompatible" warning is very specific for misbehaving firewalls.
You could try to add the parameter --force to SABnzbd.exe, which will make it continue operation.

The effect with ZoneAlarm (the reason why we added it) is that it will work, but very slow.

Use my router firewall, but disabled it while using SABnzbd

A hardware firewall has no influence on this matter (except when it would stop Usenet traffic).

In fact this is not even possible, at least not without removing it altogether.

This is normally a software firewall problem.
Although we have had some rare complaints from people with weird network problems.
Some re-installed their OS and the problem was gone.
Now I'm not suggesting to re-install your OS, but we cannot solve everyone's networking problems.
It may or may not be a SABnzbd-related problem, but it impossible to diagnose it from our side.

You did try host-address "localhost" or your fixed IP-address?

My router configuration suggest otherwise: SPI firewall: enabled disabled, but I'm sure you know best.
In fact I once started the program with a cat6 cable directly connected to my glass fiber modem with the same result.

The point is, the hardware router has 0 influence on SABnzbd's web-interface.
Especially if you use "localhost", the traffic never leaves the PC.
You should be able to get SABnzbd running with the network cable disconnected.
OK, you would not be able to download anything, but the web interface should work.

I'm not made of porcelain, so no problem at all; I understand what you are writing: The program should start up properly without being connected to the internet.
I'll try that during my holidays as well, as I'm rather busy the next two schoolweeks.

I'm having pretty much the same problem. When I open the application it nearly always gives me this software firewall error. When I start it I can watch the process appear and then disappear from the Task Manager after it opens it's tab in Firefox. I then reopen it and wait through this process again (sometimes more than 10 times) before it will stay open. Sometimes once it's open it will then crash when I click on the Queue tab and I have to start over again.

I do not access this remotely, it's still on the default local host 8080, and I do not have it set to load at startup.

I wish I could state this definitively, but i do not recall this ever happening when I was still running 0.4.3. This never happens on my other computer (also Windows XP SP3, Symantec Corporate Antivirus and connected to the same router which provides my hardware firewall) which is still running 0.4.3. I'm afraid to mess with it now. This problem doesn't keep me from using it, it's just very frustrating. The amazement I had when I started using this program last month is starting to fade.

What exactly is "this firewall error"?
What's in the logging files?
