Do not download the same episode twice

It happens quite often I am downloading an epsidoe three or four times. I would love a feature to prevent downloading the same episode more than once. Ie. Lost S06E03 is slipping through my rss-feeds and filter and has been downloaded FOUR TIMES to my disk, all versions are released by diferent groups but it is still the episode.

Skip job if a backed-up NZB with the same name exists. ?

you will need to enable backup of NZB files!

maybe someone could tell us how to enable this?

ignore me you speak of different NZBs.

Edit: I forgot to say I second that! Do not save the NZB only, check the name also.

sorry for double posting but I would like this feature very much. It would be important to save the rss feed matches that have been succesfull downloads or beeing queued and not download them again. There is no way to dl specific series sometimes as there are different groups but you wont find all episodes from one group. So you end up downloading 10gb instead of 1. Any solution to this?

Would it be possible not to only check the nzb names but also apply running rss feeds to them? So if there already was a match there should be no match again? As there are people who do want to download the same stuff several times a switch would be great. "prevent duplicate RSS downloads"

how would that work though, a match ever? a match in the last 7 days? what if two episodes really are released in the same week.

Your best bet in this situation is to filter on a release name.

I have been looking for this for a long time as well because I am used to having it in the Bit-torrent Apps such utorrent. What they do is also include a Season and Episode Parser in the RSS feed monitors. So something like this...

Family.Guy.S08E13.PDTV.XviD-MODSRGON
Family.Guy.S08E13.PROPER.PDTV.XviD-NoTV

Would only pass the filter history once as it would detect that you downloaded Season 8 / Episode 13 already. If you wanted you could even include a quality filter such as "PDTV", "720p" etc. Posters tend to use the same season episode naming conventions quite well so it does work.

This is definitely a feature that I would love to see in SabNZBD. SAB is such a great tool and is so powerful. The ability to parse episode and season data is really useful and saves me having to clean up a lot of unnecessary files.

Here is the feature description from uTorrent.
- Quality allows you choose various qualities to match against, or allow all. You can choose more than one quality in the dropdown list.

- Episode number is to download only specific ep numbers, say to avoid releases of old episodes. It supports multiple formats. For example, to download only the first 12 episodes of season 1, type in 1x1-1x12 or 1x1-12. Or to download starting from episode 13 of season 1 and include all later seasons, type in 1x13-

- Smart ep. filter makes µTorrent only download the first version of each new episode that matches your filter. This function will only work if the "Episode" column is not blank.

- Minimum interval sets a minimum interval between matches for the filter: if you set it to 2 days, µTorrent will not download anything for at least 2 days after a match.

- You can use the Reset button to make µTorrent forget that it has downloaded episodes and the last time matched for that filter.
