Hi, I'm currently using an internet connection through a http proxy server.
In order to test any possible way of connecting to my newsserver, I was wondering if it was possible to download a single news article via an internet browser ?
My newsprovider does accept connections on port 80, which is never blocked by any proxy.
Thanks
Manual test of server connection
Re: Manual test of server connection
No, the Usenet protocol is quite different from http.
The browser simply doesn't speak the language.
You should use one of the newsreaders that still supports
the original Usenet idea and find one that supports proxies.
I think Outlook or Outlook express may even do that
If you're interested in reading actual text articles, try Google Groups.
They don't carry the binary groups.
