SAB Repair stuck?

Post by olufs3n »

For some reason when SAB goes into repair, it would be stuck at repairing 1/1 for hours and it seems like it is unable to recover itself. Manually stop SABNZBD process from task manager and start SAB seems to fix the issue but it is very annoying if i have several articles going at a time because i have to do this for every single one of them. I tried using 0.5.1 RC2 but it doesn't seem to resolve the issue.

Assuming you are using Windows: go to Config->Switches and disable "multi-core" par2.
It seems some systems are not compatible with par2-multicore.

Never stop SABnzbd through the task manager, your queue might get corrupted.
Instead, kill the par2.exe process.

Be aware that on slower systems substantial repairs can take a very long time.

It has been "verifying" for the last 3 1/2 hours par2-classic.exe seem to take 50% of the CPU time

My computer isn't that slow it's a 3.06Ghz Dual Core

Even par2 classic isn't perfect.
But it's rare that it fails.
Unless your memory is sub-par.
Kill the par2-classic.exe process and try manual repair with QuickPar.

par2-classic is the tool every other download program uses (except some commercial ones).
It's the granddaddy of par2 programs.
If that doesn't work then either the downloaded stuff is so bad that par2 chokes on it
or your system hardware is suspect.

On the other hand par2-multicore seems less reliable or at least it seems to be
rather critical of hardware. So far we cannot tell either way.

BTW: we didn't write par2-classic, nor par2-multi-core.
