Dude you just asked that 5 posts ago... read back, it's been posted at least twice.

I've got a change request Im not sure has been mentioned already..  Not a biggie, but the show logos on the "coming episodes" are quite big (300-400kb each the ones I checked), so if you can find a source for smaller thumbnails that would should speed that page up.

On a related note to scope:

Since I, like some people havd chosen to disable metadata, Sick Beard doesn't download and store the image at all, this causes Sick Beard to display a placeholder image for every episode in the Coming Episodes list.

I suppose both problems (scopes and mine) could be solved by storing a small thumbnail somewhere else, like the Cache folder. Though I understand this would cause some redundancy for people who do store the images within each folder.

I think I am in the minority of people who don't want any metadata stored with their videos, so it might not be worth doing :P

I'll make a comment more than a "request".... thetvdb.com kinda stinks.
Many of the (kid) shows I snag are horribly inaccurate, incomplete, or just all together not there. I thought I recall reading in some of the notes somewhere that there was some work being done (or going to be done?) to support tvrage.com? If so, you have my vote on that.

I like the metadata but would really prefer it stored away from the actual video files.
Perhaps a metadata folder under the sickbeard folder based on shownames to store the graphics, and show info files.

But how is XBMC etc going to utilize it then?

I dont use an XBMC, so didnt really know about it.
I just like seeing the graphics and info on the web interface when I use it.

I use a Popcorn Hour as my main playback device and just drill down folders.
I havent looked at utilizing anything to 'pretty' up the interface.

I've been getting this A LOT lately:

Trying to fetch NZB from http://www.tvnzb.com/nzb/SHOW.ID

in SAB (where SHOW.ID is the name/id of the the NZB). This happens for tvnzb, nzbmatric, nzbs.org etc)
It just sits there and never actually snags the name and therefore never dloads.

Understood
The tbn files and nfos are there for XBMC (and maybe others?) to utilize it it's interface.
I do agree that it would be ideal if SB stored a copy of the tbn somewhere else for IT'S "personal" use. But then again, as somebody that uses XBMC, I don't want redundant data either... so.... XBMC users win!!!!  :P

I noticed this problem yesterday. I think it's an issue with SABnzbd though, cause I also got the error when sending an nzb directly to it (though not if I downloaded the nzb, then loaded it up through SAB), without using Sick Beard.

I upgraded to 0.5.1RC2 and the problem seems to have stopped.

Well I took your advice, downloaded what I THOUGHT was the RC2, installed and when SAB restarted it was still 0.5.0 (guess in my haste didn't grab the beta but latest stable release). Regardless, but stopping/restarting SAB it seemed to cure the problem anyways. Go figure.

Re: Sick Beard (ALPHA) - Best way to add new shows

Post by mkopel »

when I started with Sick Beard I already had some shows downloaded and it added those without issue. What is the best way to add a show that you have not downloaded yet? Should I just make a directory and add that directory, or is there a way just to use the web interface without making the directory first?

I had/have this same question.
I just added the dir, then added it SB like I did for the shows I already had.

You can add the show directly through Sick Beard.
For example, I would just tell Sick Beard to add a show found at:

Code: Select all

Z:\New Show Name
It will automatically create the folder for you, then you can set all the episodes to backlog and away you go.

Hope that made sense :P
