Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking around for a really good TV Episode download tool that can be installed on my NAS (Synology) system. I've seen a few posted here so far, but I'm not very good with programming and notices ones like Sick Beard you need to know about Pearl and what not (maybe I'm mistaken). Any suggestions would be awesome and much appreciated.
Thanks for your help!

I was using Media Rover, until I started dev on SABSync [Windows Only]. You will need to install Python, but past that you don't need to know programming. Sick Beard should be the same (I haven't used it, but a friend of mine thinks its great), although it has a WebUI, last I used MR it was config file based to get it setup.

Re: Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
Thanks a lot. What's the best way to install Python onto the Synology system?

Here you go:

Good luck, never used a Synology, but it sounds like they have you covered.
Sorry, I had to, dealing with people at work (Internal Network Admin), leads me to things like this.

I'm another Synology user who would love the benefits of your SABSync. Any plans for making that a possibility?
Also, Zypher82, did you get MediaRover working? Was it much trouble?

Not sure if it can run mono, but that might work. I've never tested it personally, but it may work, unfortunately the .Net framework is otherwise limited to Windows.

MediaRover requires much more configuring than SickBeard, so I went with SickBeard, extremely easy to setup on my Diskstation.hankydysplasia wrote: I'm another Synology user who would love the benefits of your SABSync. Any plans for making that a possibility?

Yes, I have a 210j as well, running SAB and SickBeard. It runs very smooth, not slow at all. I used the Sab2 package to install through package management. This installs Python, which is needed to run SickBeard.pair of dimes wrote:Good to hear, I have a DS210j what about you? Do you run sabnzbd off it? I haven't tried it yet, I assume it will be slow.Zypher82 wrote:MediaRover requires much more configuring than SickBeard, so I went with SickBeard, extremely easy to setup on my Diskstation.hankydysplasia wrote: I'm another Synology user who would love the benefits of your SABSync. Sorry, I don't know what nice/ionice/processing means?
Re: Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
Under Switches, almost all are checked. Runs smoothly once file is processed. I think the DS 210j has enough juice to run SAB with no issues.
Re: Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
Hi,
I'd like to install Sick Beard on my DS210j, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. I've gotten the source files, over but how do I start it?
Could you tell me how you did it?

Re: Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
You're going to need to install python onto the machine. Best way is to install ipkg first and then install that way. Once that is done, the SickBeard setup is a piece of cake. There is a whole thread on here on how to install.munk wrote: Hi,

Re: Best TV Episode Download Tool for NAS (Synology)??
If I've already installed sabnzbd with mertys package does that change how I would install SickBeard? I'm quite new to the whole unix thing - do I do it all with ssh/telnet? Sorry for being noobish.
Thanks for the help.
