Remote nzb loading

Post by Hooterman »

Forgive me if this is a super noob question, but I was curious the best way to remotely load nzb's on my home computer from a remote location.  I'm looking to be able to click on an nzb link and have something like a Firefox addon or something that would send that link / file to my home computer that is running sabnzbd.

I've got nzbdStatus installed currently, but that seems like it's just able to report the status of the program as opposed to being able to load nzb's to it.

Thanks!

Edit: I know I can load the sabnzbd web interface and paste in a nzb link under the "Add NZB" option at the top, but I was looking for an addon that would be able to load the file for me when I click a link.

If yuu use newzbin or nzbmatrix you  can bookmark NZBs.
SABnzbd can read these. For newzbin directly, for nzbmatrix through a special RSS feed.
Other than that the only option is to expose SABnzbd's UI to the internet.
This is both tricky and not very safe.

You could use something like 'dropbox'.
On your server create a dropbox folder that is also the watched folder in sabnzbd

There's a firefox script that saves nzb's to a certain folder.
On your remote computer make that the dropbox folder.

If you save a nzb-file it's automatically send to the server and sabnzbd will download it.

If you're using linux you can also create a (open)vpn connection with the two computers
and let the sabnzb web interface listen on one of the vpn ip address.
Than you can securely connect through the vpn.
That's how I use the web gui remotely.

Hope this helps!

Cheers.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions guys.  I do use nzbmatrix, but I rarely browse through the site, I usually just use the custom RSS feeds I've setup with it to browse nzb's.  But the dropbox idea would work great.
