I just started using Usenet last month so I'm having trouble working around this problem: I'll be downloading a large file at a relatively high speed when after 10 or 15 minutes the speed will drop off until it hits zero. Then, Windows will tell me I am connected to my wireless network, but with limited to no access. No web pages load, nothing transfers in SAB. Once I kill SAB's process in the task manager and restart it everything is fine for another 10 or 15 minutes. I've been using SAB and Astraweb for the past month or so and this problem has just started. I'm using all of the correct server settings given to me by Astraweb, btw. What is responsible for this problem?
Version: 0.5.3
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Install type: Windows installer
Skin: Plush
Firewall software: Kaspersky (SAB allowed)
IPV6: No
Reproducible: Yes

Re: Transfer Speed Drops to Zero 10 Minutes In
I posted that things had been solved, but after about 45 minutes we're back to the same problem. Hotfix was installed, but it appears to have just bought me more time now.

What can I say?
Software firewalls are supposed to be invisible to applications that are white-listed.
Sadly this is not always the case.
Personally I have given up on third-party firewalls and use only the built-in Windows firewall.

Re: Transfer Speed Drops to Zero 10 Minutes In
I've been exploring this some more and I've noticed that when this problem happens the wireless network goes down not only on my laptop, but on any laptop in the house that's connected to that network. When SAB gets shut down every computer on the network gets its access back. So now I'm wondering why a Usenet client would cause the wireless network to tank. My novice guess is that it has something to do with the network's inability to handle the bandwidth.
Re: Transfer Speed Drops to Zero 10 Minutes In
I missed the fact that you are using wireless.
Obviously SABnzbd is a bandwidth hog, so I can imagine that very
little bandwidth is left for the others.
A solution may be to set a limit to SABnzbd's download speed.

You might find that the problem is your router. Disable the SPI firewall in your router and see if the problem persists.
It might be incorrectly blocking your computer. That is what happened with mine, a newish netgear.
