sabnzbd can't cope with 120 mbit line?

Post by yazooo »

I have just upgraded my net connection to 120 mbit and my version of sabnzbd is having problems downloading at full speed.

I mostly run this on my NAS, but the cpu on it isn't quick enough with sab running at the speed so the downloads tops out at 40 mbit.

When I run sabnzbd directly on my PC it runs allot better, but still not as good as alternative standalone usenet program. It is nowhere near using up my resources, cpu or memory. I'm opening up 20 connections to the usenet server.

Does anyone else find this speed limitation?

Cheers

I "only" have a 100 Mbit connection and I can get the maximum speed
on a rather dull dual-core Windows-7 system.
Are you sure your router can handle 120Mit at the ISP side?

DId you had a look at the wiki for high speed downloading ???

I have sabnzbd+ running on a 100mbit linux server with the following specs  :
1.20+ GHz , 2G RAM , SATA HDD .. and I have no problems ... I can do 10 -11 MB/s
So SABNZBD+ has no problem with the speed.

thanks for the verification. as i said, on the nas side i'm postive it's the equipment as the cpu maxes out.

i know the router is ok as my desktop downloads at full speed ok.

missed a high speed section in the wiki, going for a check now!

cheers for the hardware list, am buidling a freenas box to replace the nas now.

thanks, setting a higher article cache now has sabnzbd performing exactly the same as the standlone usenet program on my desktop. on the nas it's definitely the cpu, so that's another issue.

SABnzbd is indeed hungry for CPU power.
We'd have to rewrite a significant part in C/C++ to solve that.
Any volunteers :) ?

I have just updated to 90mbit line and Sabnzb on my Synologu DS-410j is maxing out on about 3.3MB/s... This is so frustrating.  :-\
