Networked Drive [solved]

Post by Di6iTAL »

Hello,

I've been using Sabnzbd for years now, and I love it.  I'm just having an issue with unpacking to a mapped/network drive....

So I bought a new HTPC (win 7) that runs in the basement with sab.  I have another HTPC upstairs with a TV folder on it.  I'd like to use the downstairs machine for sab and send TV shows (and other files once I figure this out) to the upstairs drive(s).  So I read that I need to map or mount the drive/folder thats upstairs, so I did.  It now shows it in my computer, almost as a local HDD.  The full path to said folder is "Z:\"

So I enetered "Z:\" into the TV catagories section of sab.  It doesnt unpack and gives me an error "unpacking failed, an expetcted file was not unpacked"

Not too sure what I'm doing wrong.  Help would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

It should also tell you which file isn't unpacked.
There can be many reasons, but without more info I cannot tell what's the matter.

oh ok, I didnt see anything about a specific file.

Sorry I didnt provide enough information.  I've tried it with a few different files and I seem to get the same result.  I also tried it to the machine sab is running on, no issues there, works great.  So sab itself isnt the problem just the mapped drive.  I added a subdirectory folder into Z:\ and tried that  too, no dice.

No way to add it like "\\HTPC\TV".  I am supposed to "map" it right?....

The categories support UNC paths (\\server\share).
Are you sure the user account SABnzbd works under, has access rights to the network drive?
What do you set for other categories and what as the default "final" folder?
Those are used when the category doesn't trigger for some reason.

I assume all the temporary folders are on a local disk?

Yes, the temp folders are on a local drive.  All the other catagories are default right now, local.  The only time I've used sab is to local HDD's, so this is new to me.  The "final" folder is just the default, /downloads/complete as of now.

How do I insure the machine running sab has sccess rights to the other one?  I can access them through network/my computer.

Is it better to mount the drive or use the UNC path?....neither seem to work for me....

Thanks again for all ur help, I just need to get this up and running....

So the UNC path is this ; "\\HTPC-2\Stevie\TV" - do I add it just like that? (without quotes)

Ok, so I figured it out, I didnt have FULL access.  Im all set thanks for all ur help! - Just basically had to re-do sharing options for each individual drive, which was no big deal.  Then I just mounted the one TV driv for sick beard.  Works flawless!
