Sabnzbd Boxee app

I'm not sure how active bartsidee is working on this app so i'd like to volunteer to help where i can. 

I've already created a pause/resume version for myself, just adding the ability to Pause for X minutes right now.

I understand python well enough and can maybe help spruce up some of the artwork.

But it requires API key, why?

After all user can turn it off via config > general: "Do not require the API key".

Real pain to type in the API key when using the Boxee Box since you dont support the remote it seems.

Pausing would be nice?

Also, search results disappear when you start a download. So to download another you have to do another search, a bit annoying.

The api key is there for you for your own security it is not advised to turn it off. With the boxee remote it should not be that much of a pain, and when on linux /windows you can manually copy it to the user settings file of the app. I agree that the input fields are not optimized for the boxee remote. But when opening the keyboard dialog you can also use the boxee box remote keyboard.

A pauze/resume button would be a nice addition indeed, I got that request from more people.

At the moment I'm maintaining a bunch of apps, mainly for dutch users (online tv content) as these need some further tweaking I keep those as main priority for development.  Also maintaining all these apps costs a lot of time, so no I'm not actively developing the sabnzbd app. Not that I don't wont it but for the next few weeks my time is limited.

It would be great to get some support and extent the functionality of the program. In theory I could setup some development platform on github or svn, but for now if you have some nice additions you can mail them to me in zip/rar. I will have a look it and if all seems working I will merge them into the repo.

Nice update.

How about when pausing showing the pause time count down?

Perhaps hide the speed since its zero when paused and replace time left with the pause time.

As in "Paused (2:35)" just like it shows on the Savnzbd web page.

Also, I find it very annoying that when it refreshes, every 4 seconds it seems, it auto focuses back to the first file the list.

So if your scrolling down for example to cancel 1 and it takes you longer than 4 seconds, then you cant because it jumps back to the first file.

Speaking of  refreshes, refresh times would be nice. If so please have it match the web interface, which btw 4 seconds is not one of the options. hint hint

I just added 12 files to be download and it shows time left of only 6 minutes. Should be 2+ hours, like it shows on the web interface. Looks like you failed to add all the estimated remaining times up. The estimated 2+hours is way more accurate than the 6 minutes of course.

Speaking of numbers. Once you add a 7th one it looks ugly because you don't fit the 7th in the area. So please only display the 6 at a time or perhaps make the viewing area the right size to display 7 at a time? Surly it's doable since you left so much space above the tabs at the top and between the tabs and speed & time left.

Gray background color for selected item is an odd choice since the normal background is also a shade of gray. Please change to something else. Very hard to tell which row is selected when used on a big TV.

The grey text currently used to show the file size and remaining time is very difficult to read on a big TV. Perhaps use the same yellowish color you used for speed and time left?

You currently use the same black color for status "Downloading" , "Queued", and "Paused". Perhaps use green for downloading, yellow for queued and red for paused? Would make it more obvious and easer to tell when viewing on a TV at a distance.

Lastly you show the file size under the tile. Perhaps that should be remaining size instead, that is more useful I'd think. After all that is what is counted down on the web interface.

I guess then would it be possible to have the current search provider display newest first?

I'm not a coder so not really my area of expertise.

Also, if you have access to a BB you might want to check it out as of SP3 firmware it causes BB to crash when exiting your app.

Unfortunately I'm a bit short on time. You have a nice list with suggestions. Some will be hard to implent others pretty easy. All depends on the time I have, at the moment i'm actively developing an app for a company so I have to give that more priority. I haven't tested the app on sp3, but it could be due to the refresh mechanism.

I will see if I have some spare time to fix the bugs.

I didn't have much time but made a few changes to the app:
-Boxee keyboard remote support (direct typing)
-Toggle button for pauze/resume
-Pauze time displayed when paused
-Some general code optimizations
-bugfix for focus position at refresh

I didn't encounter any stalls on the latest rc boxee firmware. The app like all the others in my repo are signed now.
