I keep getting this error with the gui for windows (in Vista). It works fine on my laptop and I use the exact same config.

Re: SAA GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
Probably an ipv6 error (if your laptop is not running vista that is).
which of these links works for you?
http://[::1]:8080/sabnzbd/
http://127.0.0.1:8080/sabnzbd/
Try changing the url value your gui config to the one that works.
url=http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/

Re: SAA GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
I don't know what you mean by what setup I am using. Can you tell me what information you would be looking for?pair of dimes wrote: Can you be more clear as to your exact setup?
for what I think you are asking:
Both my laptop and desktop are running Vista, both have 2 partitions (1 for Vista, 1 for my User folders such as downloads), both have the same exact software installed (anti virus, firewall etc). I included the setup files for SAB and the GUI in the original post, is there anything else I can provide?
With regards to this question:

I tried both alternatives and neither worked. I still get the same error messages from the GUI :
[8:29:05 PM] Can't connect to remote address. - Socket Error # 10061
Connection refused.
[8:29:05 PM] [EXCP] '' is not a valid floating point value
[8:29:14 PM] Waiting for server to go online. Hit Retry Connection in the menu to reconnect.
Re: SAB GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
I would like to add that I tried to reinstall Vista (I use business on both machines) and the problem still persists.
the site for the gui add on has discussions on this topic but nothing there worked out for me.
Any ideas as to the solution to this problem?

Re: SAB GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
We can't really offer full support of a 3rd party product that doesn't work. It is best to try and get support from the maker of the program, but it seems you have already tried that.
Try launching sabnzbd with the host 127.0.0.1 in config>general (needs a restart of sab) and change your sabgui settings to look for 127.0.0.1

Re: SAB GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
Isn't the address already in use by sabnzbd itself? Try rebooting. (not shutdown because vista goes in hibernate mode and not in a complete shutdown).
Re: SAB GUI - unable to connect to localhost error
Thanks, I'll try that and post back.
