0.6RC1: Queue is invisible with Plush

Post by neilt0 »

I upgraded from 0.5.6 to 0.6 Beta RC1. I kept my .ini, but deleted all the other stuff in admin, cache etc.

SAB is downloading correctly, but Plush isn't showing the queue for some reason?

With the classic skin enabled, the queue is visible:

But with Plush, it doesn't think it's downloading anything. The total amounts being downloaded get added up, and the Syslload, but nothing else:

Ah yes, it seems to have fixed itself. Schoolboy error on my part, I guess.

Now, I like SABnzbd a lot, and have been using it for a very long time. A few ideas I came up with were implemented in to the program and I feel part of the community, so please take this in the spirit in which it's intended:

I like to have lots of status info visible in my client, but Plush looks like it has had the UI elements in a box and thrown them against the browser wall!

There are two menu items marked "Options" and "Config". That's bad enough. Then there are all the drop down elements on the right. It's a mess!

Agreed, where would you put them?
I guess the problem is that the interface has evolved over time.

Up until about a year or two ago, I used SAB every day, and I imagine as you add more elements, it remains simple to use, but if you are coming to it as a new user, it's not too friendly.

I can see that the latest Plush has had some elements moved around to tidy things up, but I'm thinking it may need starting from scratch. I'm not a UI designer, but Plush may need one.

It's not the only offender -- Newsbin currently has an Options menu that leads to Options. And don't get me started on other problems with Newsbin 6!

Right now, there at least 6 separate areas of the screen with menus, and it's just too confusing to know where to click. Particularly with "Config" and "Options" giving me no clue what they are -- I have clicked each about 5 times, and each time had no idea what was going to come up.

You also have the unlabelled arrow on the right, which has a miscellany of options. Even if I knew what option I wanted, I have a hard time remembering where it is.

I hope this is constructive criticism. SAB is still the best, the best a man can get!

I agree with you.
We're better at functionality then at UI design :(
Nevertheless, it will be taken up, but not for 0.6.0.
