Monthly transfer reset options

Post by monkey »

I'd like to see a couple of options added to the transfer usage

Firstly, an option to manually reset it (eg if you change providers)
Secondly, a date on which the monthly usage resets rather than on a calender month

Apologies if these are elsewhere but I was unable to find them

Logging is kept per server also.
(BTW: you can reset by stopping SABnzbd, removing admin\totals9.sab and starting SABnzbd.)

The changeover date has been requested before and is noted for a future release.

Many thanks for the swift reply!

Will removing totals9.sab just remove the monthly limits or will it reset all of them?

If it's just monthly I can set up a cron job to easily do what I want!

It will remove *all* byte counters.

This doesn't appear to be working anymore. I first tried doing what you instruct with admin\totals9.sab and it does nothing for me.

I then tried full uninstall/reinstall, deleting any data left by the uninstaller before re-installing, and clearing all browser cache/cookies.

The only pre-existing file is the ini file, and I have scoured it looking for byte counter related data.

My byte counters won't reset.

Am I doing something wrong?

I would like my name thrown into the hat for people wanting an option to disable/remove/ or at least easily reset byte counters. I don't have need to track this and would prefer to not track what I don't need tracked.

Thanks

You should first stop SABnzbd and then remove the file.
Also, when the file is missing an estimate for totals will be made from the history database.
(So that every job you did not remove from History).

I stopped SABNZBD from the task manager.

Uninstalled the applitcation through programs and features.

Deleted any files left over.

Cleared all cache/cookies in browser.

Emptied recycle bin.

Installed the latest release.

Started SABNZBD (To generate default data).

Clicked the exit button on the wizard.

Checked that SABNZBD was stopped.

Copied my backed up sabnzbd.ini back.

Started SABNZBD.

Opened the web interface to see my byte counters unchanged. Also tried in other browsers that I never manage SABNZBD in. Same totals.

Can you tell me where I went wrong?

Thanks

Also, the above isn't the first thing I tried. I tried clearing all cache/history/logs/backed up nzbs/etc. prior to going where I did. My first troubleshooting step isn't typically to eradicate an application from my computer to try and reset a counter.

Not blaming you or SABNZBD for this, just trying to figure out where it is going wrong and why. But short of re-building my PC, I don't see these getting reset without insight that I appear to currently lack.

Edit: Could this be a windows registry thing? I am going through it right now, but there is a lot of "sabnzbd" noise in there.

And you're sure totals9.sab and history1.db were removed in the process?
Because these are the only two sources for byte counts.
There's nothing in the restored sabnzbd.ini file.

I deleted the folder "C:\Users\[redacted]\AppData\Local\sabnzbd" folder, which remained after uninstall, as well as the program file data itself. All known locations for SABNZBD data were scrubbed and the trash emptied prior to re-install.

I will try the process again. But maybe there is just something wrong with my PC. Would I need a re-boot in there anywhere? I didn't get the impression that SABNZBD was fussy about that.

Just knowing all possible culprits lets me know that I am at least doing what should work. That was my real concern was wasting my day messing with this without really understanding what is going on in the back end.

Thanks. I will let you know what happens.

Went through this whole process again, rebooting in between, and my counters are still not cleared.

This is kinda creeping me out at this point. Time to start digging through code I guess.

With the exception of magic, I cannot think of a cause.
When SABnzbd is still running, you won't be able to uninstall it completely.
There is nothing in the registry from SABnzbd, except a few uninstall parameters.
There is no way that SABnzbd can remember anything when its admin folder has been erased.
Did you somehow manage to store it somewhere else (check your shortcut for the -f parameter).
Check your Config->Folders paeg too, is the admin folder in the standard place?

Having an unreliable PC doesn't sound very convincing either,
why would this one problem be the only symptom?
