[RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (29 February 2012 - V0.1.4) BETA
[RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (29 February 2012 - V0.1.4) BETA
A problem that I ran into when automating my downloads with SABNZB+ using RSS feeds
was the fact that I couldn't find a good base RSS feed.
Of course SABNZB+ offers filters to get rid of all the junk in your RSS feed but for me that was not enough.
Therefore I created a custom RSS feed. Which I like to share with you (partly for feedback )
The link is http://www.rssnzb.com/
This will show you a form to generate your RSS feed based on some criteria. After you filled in the form
and press submit you will be directed to the RSS feed (unless you check debug you can use this to show the form and generate the URL).
Copy the URL from the browser and then use it in SABNZBD+ to get your own custom RSS feed.
This is still a BETA application so let me know all of your wishes and bugs you encounter.
Enjoy!
TODO's
1. Optimize peformance
2. Create shorter RSS feed URL's
3. Style generator form
4. Built caching mechanism
5. Friendly error handling
6. Add the option in the search query to filter out stuff
Feature requests
Add categorized search
Known bugs
2011-05-12 When there are any special alpha characters in the RSS feed it can not be displayed in all RSS readers (works in SABNZB+)

Please make sure to notify me of any bugs and if you have any feature requests let me know feedback is key (also if it is negative)
Re: [RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (11 May 2011 - V0.1.3) BETA
This seems to work very well. I'm pretty new to SABnzbd and could never get the RSS filters to narrow down what I've been searching for, but your site does exactly that! The custom link that your site provides gives me the exact feed I want SABnzbd to have. In some cases I need one extra filter in SABnzbd, but your site eliminates almost ALL of the hassle I was having at first.
Please keep up the great work! I hope your site stays up and running for a long long time - I haven't found any other site that does the same thing!

Thank you very much for your compliment. The exact same problem you describe is why I created the site in the first place.sleeeves wrote: This seems to work very well. Don't worry if the site is down sometimes since it is still in a beta I'm not running it on a professional server (just a home server).
If you have any suggestions just let me know.

Hi,
Just found your feed generator, very useful. I wish you long live.
The only problem I found is when I want to filter some junk with the minus sign, seem to doesn't work. (i.e. search : stuff -junk)
Thanks.

Re: [RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (29 February 2012 - V0.1.4) BE
Since the update non of my rss feeds are downloaded by SABNZB anymore. I just checked NZB RSS feed and typed in only the name of a show and still nothing was found.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks

Hi Mitta,
I've just tried it again, but to no avail.
When I, for instance, only type in Grimm and hit the Generate link button it takes a while and then the page where the hits should appear comes up with nothing.
When I use the "Reset form" button I get the following message:
The web site you are accessing has experienced an unexpected error.

Re: [RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (29 February 2012 - V0.1.4) BE
Hi RonE,
Thank you for your information. The reset button was bugged which is fixed now. The service I use to get the data is a bit unstable. I'm planning to use another provider but for now the search could respond with 0 results while there are definitely results available. Please retry if this happens.
Thank you for trying my application.

I made another quick fix. Thank you for the updates.
Re: [RSS] Custom NZB RSS feed (29 February 2012 - V0.1.4) BE
Well, sorry to say it's more NOT working then anything else.
Too bad, it started out quit promising, but it's down to useless by now.
Last two weeks I tried to create varioius RSS urls but even with only one word to search there are no results (or I get a casino offer...duh)
I will try it now and again to see if things change for the better
