From what I understand, on Windows you can change the download folder to something else than your user/home folder by using the full path, like C:
What about on OSX, or perhaps other UNIX-based systems? Say I want it to download to "Name of External HD/Downloads/nzb"
Thanks in advance

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
Thanks a lot, works a charm
Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
This is not working for me. Mainly because it's looking for the volumes directory relative to the "Users/Username/" directory. Anu suggestions on changing it?
I'm using 0.4.2 on 10.5.2. Would much rather my downloads be going to my 300gb external than my 120gb internal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
The relative path is only used when it is supplied with a folder name. If you give it a full path it should work. What is the exact path you are trying to set?
Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
im pointing it to
/Volumes/MOBILE 7/ARCHIVE
and it just makes a folder in
/users/username/....etc
maybe i'm being an idiot here and missing something. It's a usb external disk, automatically mounted, not played about with. The Device path acording to get info is the path above, however the volume is named just "mobile". I have tried both variants, to no success.
many thanks,
tubbs

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
Is the external disk plugged in when you save the settings in Config>Folders?
SABnzbd first tries to make the complete folder when saving, and just uses the users home folder if it fails. Are there any warnings in the config page after you try to save?
I must admit I'm not sure how SABnzbd reacts at the moment when an external disk, that is your complete folder, is disconnected. It might be best to create a category that points to your external disk and just use that (if you have it disconnected a lot) or a user-script.

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
I think i know what's happening for tubbs.
Go to folder /Volumes with Finder... you should have a surprise.
When sab saves config, he try to make "complete" folder in your downloads folder.
If your external disk is not plugged, it will create it in /Volumes and next time you'll plug your external hdd, the volume name will always be "mobile" but as the folder already exists in /Volumes, it will be mounted in "/Volumes/mobile 1"...
I think your downloads are ok but not in you external hdd.
Unplug your external hdd and make some cleanup in /Volumes (remove all mobile* folders), replug your hdd and check in /Volumes, you should have a mobile folder.
Try to plug your hdd before launching sab should resolve this issue.
Hope it helps

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
Thanks rAf. I had the exact same problem and you where spot on!
Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
I download to a different internal hard drive. To create the preferences, I simply dragged and dropped the folder/s I wanted to use into the browser window. The correct path to use was automatically configured. HTH.

Re: Downloading to different volume on OSX
I've had the exact same problem. I solved it by using Safari instead of Firefox when configuring! Plugged in external HD, started SAB, dragged'n'dropped the desired folder into the Safari browser when I was at the folders configurations site, and it worked like a charm
Thanks for your help.
