I'm sorry, it was to sufr3ak. The nzbmatrix URL he/she sent me was not an API style URL.

No, that why I asked for the RSS URL, but I didn't have a chance to test this.

I was mistaken before. Yes the link is OK, when I enter it in SABnzbd's Fetch URL box it works OK.
I still maintain that's it's caused by nzbmatrix being flaky, although that's next to impossible to prove.
The frustrating thing is that when I test SABnzbd with nzbmatrix it always works.
Except for the occasional persistently empty NZB (which turns out to be really empty when I test it with the browser).

I just retried with a different episode (from Sickbeard) and the relevant entries in the sab log are:
It looks like SickBeard sends old-style API URLs.
The correct API call starts like this:
https://api.nzbmatrix.com/v1.1/download.php?

Your log shows something else:
https://nzbmatrix.com/api-nzb-download.php?

That's an old style API. Should work, but given nzbmatrix's instability you never know.
Please report this to SickBeard's forum too.

In the mean time I'll do some additional testing.

I'm not 100% sure that its Sickbeard. I often use the bookmark feature of NZBMatrix, and it fails the same way. Sickbeard has no involvement then.

Once an nzbmatrix attempt lands in the History as a failed item, does clicking retry help?

Restart SABnzbd and then retry.
No matter what I try, my own and your URLs always download properly from nzbmatrix.

I've restarted, even reverted to a previous version. I suppose I'll go uninstall and start from scratch.

OK. This is insane. My system rebooted last night (Windows Updates), so on a whim before I did anything, I tried one more time.
*BAM* Everything is working.

What a stupid issue..something Windows related. Shocker. Consider it closed.

The magic Windows cure, reboot.
Even so, you're not the only one to have similar complaints.
There might still be a deeper issue, like some network handle leak, due to too many retries.
Glad that it works for you, but I'll will do some further digging.
And report again should the problem come back.

Somehow VERY odd, since I asked you shypike if you were "talking" to me, I've never received any reply notification from the forum....

anyways, I'll digest what happened between then and now and post back .

OK its been 17 seconds (LOL) since I posted here, but I have more to say:

1-Im running Slackware on ALL of my machines (server where SAB is running, laptop which I use as my main machine) so Reboot (like in Windows) wont help (Go Linux Go!) :)

2-Its still failing. Last time I tried, it worked except for the link I sent you shypike. Then my RSS feeds are auto-adding jobs to SAB, but they're all failing with empty NZB files....

Again, if I manually retrieve the NZB from NZBmatrix (or its cousin NZBxxx >:D >:D >:D ) SAB will download the content properly.

Any new developments shypike? Should I complain to NZBMatrix?

You have no idea how hard it is to keep up with multiple threads over long periods of time.
Especially when extra people come in with almost but not quite the same problem.

Persistently empty NZBs (when retrieved through the API) are an nzbmatrix problem.
The simplest way to test is to get the API-URL from history or the logfile and paste that into the browser.
When you can get the NZB files this way but not through SABnzbd (after retrying), there is an issue with SABnzbd.
The nzbmatrix site states that the API gets its NZBs some time after they appear on the website (and the RSS feed).
Lame, but that's the way it is.
