Is it possible to start the unrar and par2 process with very low priority, so it doesnt interfere with other jobs on the computer?
i use linux.
the goal is just simple, leaving headroom for more important processes so you dont feel any performance lack (e.g gaming or other things)
Unrar Par2 Priority
Re: Unrar Par2 Priority
SABnzbd already does that.
You can manipulate the parameters of "nice" and "ionice" on Config->Switches.
Disk priority is actually the biggest worry as most systems aren't very good at handling that.
An alternative is to postpone post-processing with the Scheduler.

Re: Unrar Par2 Priority
Thanks for the Informations.
I tried to modify the priority by entering the nice values e.g 10
But then sabnzb stopped working
what kind of values do i have to enter, there is nothing in the wiki, only disk priority but not unrar/par2

Re: Unrar Par2 Priority
The "nice" and "ionice" settings are used to run unrar and par2.
The effect will be very OS and system dependent.
You'll have to experiment.
