Sabnzbd has failed job, articles missing etc?

Sorry, as i'm a bit of a newbie on newgroup nzb downloading here, but..

I'm using sick beard with sabnzbd and getting alot of the errors on downloads like this..

I'm wondering if there is a way to avoid this.. as say i download 2GB and it fails, well, given i have bandwidth limits via my comcast connection, its kinda a waste..

If i leave these "dead" downloads in the queue, will they ever self heal? Are there any tricks to try to avoid downloading ones that will eventually fail like this?

I do have the matrix account and i use usenetserver.

I suggest adding a cheap Astraweb block account as a backup server.
Also free XSUsenet account as another backup server.

There will be a pre-download check in the next major release.
Other than that, look carefully at the content of the download on nzbmatrix.com.
Does the NZB look complete is there a substantial number of par2 files available.
Also read comments by other users.
Compare your servers retention rate with the age of the post.

If you have one of the premium Usenet servers you should not need a backup server.
Should you have an ultra-cheap of free one, that will change matters.

well i looked directly in nzbmatrix for this case.. it had 1779 hits, 609Days old.. comments seem to indicate that the par files for some are missing.. but got them from "elsewhere".. I wasnt sure how to tell the par count though?

The server should be OK, although not all are equally reliable. I have no experience with it.
You said you got the par2 files "elsewhere", how did you get SABnzbd to download them?

oh i didnt get them elsewhere, i meant one commenter in the matrix said that he did though.

Unless you can find the files "elsewhere" too, I think you're out of luck.

I wandered through the 609 day old pages on Matrix until I found a post that has 1782 hits, 10 comments, and is 57.05 GB.

You won't be able to successfully download that post from Newshosting unless you have Astraweb as a backup server (cheap block suggested). The age of 609 days is beyond the retention of XSUsenet.
