This has been happening for a while, but I haven't updated in a long time so I couldn't know if it got resolved. I think it started happening when I switched from windows to linux, but I'm not sure since it's been a while.
The default general option is to not delete anything since I sometime want to keep all files, but I enabled the +Delete option for some categories but none of the par2 files get deleted from those. I know the categories work since the files get moved to the right folder and renamed properly if that applies.
Is this a know bug or did something get screwed up when I updated one time since I've been using the same config file since I switched to linux(during v0.4.x or 0.5.x, not sure exactly which one).

Check the setting Config->Switches->"Enable Par cleanup".
It can happen that an NZB contains some unrelated par2 files, there are not removed.
You can also setup a clean up filter in Config->General, this is extension-based.

I can't do a general one since I want to keep them sometimes, that's why I need to use a category. Also, they are not unrelated par file, it's the one that goes with the set that don't get deleted, ever.

An NZB and a full debug log of an actual case would be needed to diagnose this.

I took a small random nzb from alt.binaries.test, saved it to my inport folder, did a global pause, manually changed the category to one that should delete the par files and resumed the download.
It got moved to the category folder but the pars files didn't get deleted as usual.
You can get the nzb here if you want, but they all do the same thing on my system: binsearch link to nzb file (select all 3 files and create the nzb)

What I see is that the par2 file without volxxx+yyy isn't deleted.
That's normal, because SABnzbd ignores the initial par2 file.
It's been like like that since day 1, but we should really do something about it.
Most just have par2 in general cleanup.

The AutoRarPar.vol0+1.par2 also doesn't get deleted(as well as any extra par2 file that gets downloaded in any download) and they used to be long ago(not sure about the initial par2 though).
