Access SABnzbd from other pc in my network

Hi all,

I'm running SABnzbd on my htpc (W7-64bit) and I'm trying to access it from my other pc in the network. My firewall is Microsofts built-in fw, and I've added SABnzbd.exe to the list.

My htpc has a fixed ip-address, SABnzbd runs on http://192.168.1.10:8080 by default, but I changed it to :1979 and :8001 to no avail. When I open SABnzbd from the htpc it runs fine.

I can access both Sickbeard (http://192.168.1.10:8081) and Couchpotato (http://192.168.1.10:5000) from the pc without any problem, so I hope that rules out any network issues.

The problem is that when I try to connect to http://192.168.1.10:8080 from my pc I can't get to the webpage, it just blanks out with connection problem.

Can anyone help me with this?

It looks like you haven't forwarded the port in your router.
Please forward the port that SABNzbd uses to your htpc, and try again.

U will usually find portforwarding on the advanced settings page. If you can't find it, you may find some help here

Thanks, I'll have a look at it. I haven't forwarded any ports on the router though, so shouldn't Sickbeard and Couchpotato be unreachable too?

Hmm, what kind of host adres do u use for SABNzbd?

If you leave it at it's default 0.0.0.0 then you will prevent common problems that could lead to an unreachable SABNzbd. Afaik Sickbeard and Couchpotato use this too.

If you have any other host adres for sab then 0.0.0.0 then please change it and try again

If it doesn't work, then try to forward your ports.

I didn't change anything to the default setup (other than changing the port as default 8080 didn't work ) so I assume it's still at 0.0.0.0

However I'll definitely have a look when I get home this evening. Your help is very much appreciated!

It turned out that the host adres was set at "localhost" so I changed it to 0.0.0.0 and it worked fine! I even removed the port forward I had entered into the router config, and it still works

WOW been thumping my head against the wall trying to set this up, maybe in the next version have the default as 0.0.0.0 instead of localhost. Would probebly help alot of people out.

This thread came up on a google search so I'm just going to spell it out a bit more:

Go to your sabnzbd page > general > sabnzbd host

Change to 0.0.0.0

Run cmd, type "ipconfig /all" without quotes

Find IPv4 address (will have "(Preferred)" next to it). e.g. Mine was 192.168.8.111

On the remote computer, type the URL adding the port listed on the sabznbd > general page and also add "/sabnzbd"

e.g. mine was 192.168.111:8080/sabnzbd

Similarly, I also arrived via Google search, so I will provide another step which I found to be necessary which was to restart SAB (from the same options menu just half a page down under host settings).

Like the thread title, another pc in my network. E.g. I had an htpc running sabnzbd and controlled it with my laptop. "Remote computer" is probably the wrong term.

The method is OK.
Please note that you need to tell your software firewall that it must allow SABnzbd to receive incoming connections.
