I have SABnzbd, Sickbeard and Couchpotato running on my Synology DS411+II NAS. When I download a TV episode it is automatically renamed and moved to the correct folder on the NAS. Sometimes I experience CRC errors in the TV shows i'm watching, which causes VLC/XBMC/Plex to either crash or stop playing the current episode. The only way to avoid it again is to skip a few seconds ahead of that location in the video and then it plays on like nothing happened.
First I thought it was an error in the video and was looking to see if the episode was nuked. I't wasn't. Then I downloaded the episode again, but this time on my Windows 7 PC, using SABnzbd 0.6.15 - the same version i'm running on the NAS. This time, there is no error in the episode and the players have no problems with it.
The two files are exactly the same size, but if I make a SFV file on one file, it fails when checking the other file - the files are identical on the surface, but the SFV says otherwise.
What can be the problem? Its happening in almost 1 out of 2 files now. When I download the same file on my PC, there is no problem.
In the above description I only mention TV series, because I haven't noticed the problems with movies yet. Then again, I don't watch a lot of movies, and the problem might exist there as well.
Any thoughts on what might cause the problem will be appreciated

Re: Errors in video after downloading
My first guess would be that your NAS and/or network is too slow to play video's from.
So, easy test for this hypothesis: Copy a problematic file from your NAS to your PC, and try to play it again.

Re: Errors in video after downloading
That is not the problem. I've tried copying the problematic file to the PC and it still fails. I tried copying the new good file to the NAS, and it still plays fine.sander wrote:My first guess would be that your NAS and/or network is too slow to play video's from.

The DS411+II is the most powerful NAS in the 4-bay series from Synology, so resources shouldn't be a problem. I run a gigabit network and at a earlier test I was able to copy 105 MB/s over the network - that's more than enough to play a video

Re: Errors in video after downloading
Strange.
I would do this: set the logging level of SABnzbd to +Debug, download files, and have a look at sabnzbd.log. Especially the final wiht par and unrar shoulde be interesting.
On a faulty download, you could also Only Download a post, and then manually par/unrar it see to see if there are strange results / outputs (too).

Re: Errors in video after downloading
Did you get this fixed? I have the same problem and I think it definitely has something to do with the unrar app.
I use the compression utils that I downloaded together with the sabnzb app from the mertymade page.

Re: Errors in video after downloading
I'm afraid not.. I don't seem to have the problem anymore, but I uninstalled SABnzbd, sickbeard and the rest of the 3rd party software a month ago, and installed it again - that might have fixed it. I still have errors in movies/series I downloaded previously, but I've startet to redownload again, if I encounter a error.
