Install sabnzbd on Synology DS212J

Hi

Can any point me in the right direction for setting up sabnzbd on my Synology DS212J. When I follow the guide on this website it says make sure you install
- Base Utils
- Compression Utils
- Python Utils

When I click on the links for these my model (Synology DS212J) is not listed. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am using this link as a guide.

On http://www.mertymade.com/blog/ Mertymade tells he has stopped creating / supporting packages. So maybe your DS212J is newer than his decison?

The same page http://www.mertymade.com/blog/ at the bottom mentions two alternative methods for SABnzbd ... maybe that helps?

I would start by using SynoCommunity packages and not merty's as they are older.

Install Python, sabnzbd, sickbeard and couchpotato from there!
Post if you have troubles, I just installed those packages last week, so it's still fresh in my memory

OP, I had a DS413J for a very brief duration. It was incredibly easy to install, I recommend this: http://www.mertymade.com/syno/ It includes an installer and updater which SABnzbd lacks. However, I have to warn you that if you shouldn't expect to download faster than 2-3MB/s and doing so will completely max your CPU at 100% for anything over 1.5-2MB/s. I was not able to reach my connection's max (14.5MB/s) so I sent it back and built a server. I have heard that NzbGet will net you much faster speeds if you are CPU limited (and you will be with a 212J). If you can live without SABnzbd then I recommend that route.

Sorry to correct you erode, but merty isn't supporting those packages anymore. I would definately use the SynoCommunity packages instead as they are up-to-date. Well, they're at version 0.7.6...

Nope, the link http://packages.synocommunity.com has to be inserted in Synology Package center.
The page you mention is just to display the packages available.

Worth a try: check out http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... y_NAS_have and see which models have the same CPU as your DS212j. Just try if it works.

You don't actually need to download something on your computer and then install it on your Diskstation. You access the web interface of your Diskstation, then follow the procedure I gave you (http://www.synocommunity.com/faq#addSource)

Then, the packages will be available in Other sources and you will be able to install Sab and Sickbeard easily.
As for the question regarding your DS212j, it's the same CPU as my DS212+, except it's running slower.

Honestly though, from the testing I have been doing up until this morning, repairs and verify take an awefull lot of time on the Diskstation. Thanks all, I now have this working and installed. Runs ok, only get a max of 2.5Mbps download speed but not too bad considering the slow processor and small about of RAM.

For small CPU nzbget will give you a much better download rate.
Since I can't live without Sabnzbd I replaced my old Syno by a new one with an Atom CPU....

I just bought a DS212j and trying to install sabnzbd on it. None of those links works anymore.


Does anyone have links that I can use so i can run sabnzbd on my synology nas?

in package centre on nas go to package sources and add location http://packages.synocommunity.com/ and name SynoCommunity. seems to be down at the minute but hopefully back up soon. you need to install python first then sasbnzbd
