Sabnzb PAUSING for no reason!!?!?!

Post by duhmez »

Version 0.7.9
Firefox 18.0.1
Windows 7 64 bit, installed using the Windows installer.

I queued up a bunch of things and came back later an dit is PAUSED.
I swear to Christ I have TONS of disk space free, many many gigabytes, 50+ gigs free.
IN the options I did not set it to pause for any event. I used to have it pause during post precess, but I turned this off when this issue happened in case there somehow was a conflict.
Nothing is stuck processing by the way, I am FORCING them to go and they are working.
Also I restarted the sabnzb process after changing and saving my change.

It's really weird and annoying.
I have checked google and these forums and seems like I am the only one having this issue.
As we speak I am forcing them one by one to get them cleared off then see if the new queued items will also auto pause.

Note: If I click pause for 5 min, then tell it to un pause, it will download for about 5 seconds, then it pauses again.
I have 50 gb free on temp drive and have it set to download until it has 500M.

I actually had the same issue. I was waiting for something to download and discovered that SAB was paused for some reason. It's happened at least twice now. I believe something related to an unpacking/moving error.

But like you, I'm stumped.

You have no third-party tools communicating with SABnzbd?

Set logging to "Debug" level on the Status page.
Then download until the pause occurs.
Go to the Status page again and download the log file.
Open it in some text edit (like Notepad) and examine the last part of the file.
That you show some reason for pausing.

I have had this a couple of times, turned out I'd exceeded the maximum path length in Windows. The error looks like an out of disc space error, so SABNZBD pauses. The clue was that it only happened to me on very long file names.

There's a setting in the Special page of Config called folder_max_length - setting that to 75 has worked for me, I've not had the problem since.

Yes, the error reporting isn't very clear here and will be improved in future releases.
(As will the long path issue itself.)

Hey guys this is amazing. I think this was my issue as well, there was an nzb hthat had a very long filename one it went into temp directory. At the time I never did figure it out so I just forced/deleted stuff until it fixed itself. I did check the log and there was no indication of what was amiss.

I just changed max folder length to 75, Saved changes & restarted Sabnzbd & It's still pausing. I'm also noticing the pause does seem to correspond to a disk error because there is a warning each time it pauses. Also the number typed in the box is 75 for max folder length. But the # in the parenthesis is still 128. any help is much appreciated.

The number between brackets is the default value.
75 is probably still too much, as this number is the maximum size
for each path element. The total can still be too large.
Pick something like 30.

Well I changed it to 30 & it's still pausing. Here are the warnings I got:

1st one:

2nd warning:

3rd warning:
Disk error on creating file C:\Users\Delete\Documents\Downloads\incomplete\TOWN_www_town_ag_partner_of_www_ssl_news_info_MOVIE_We_Steal_Secrets_The_Story_of_WikiLeaks_2013_LIMITED_480p_BluRay_x264_mSD.nz\We.Steal.Secrets.The.Story.of.WikiLeaks.2013.LIMITED.480p.BluRay.x264-mSD.part15.rar

Any help is greatly apprecaited

The first path is definitely too long.
Reduce it a bit further.
Apparently the post contains an extra folder level in the RAR files.
The problem will be partially solved in the next main release (0.8.0),
but not completely, because Windows just sucks in this area.

I agree that Windows sucks. In all areas. Lol. I have a question, When I change the path length. Does it go into effect on downloads that have already started? Or only on newly started downloads? Should I delete the download that is giving me errors & start it over after I change the path file?

I think I answered my own questions in my previous posts. But have another one. I've noticed now that I've shortened folder max length. Now most of my download names are generic & can't tell what the downloads are. Is there any way to modify the names while downloading? Or do I have to wait till their in the complete folder?

Thanx again for all your help

If NZB names are coming from an RSS source, there's nothing you can do.
Also the names inside the RAR files cannot be changed.
In release 0.8.0 there will finally be some measures to lighten the problem.
But Windows has never been able to shed this legacy issue completely.
