Refresh of main page

Post by Ben Groen »

I have looked in a bunch of FAQ and other places but it seems like I am the only person with this problem, or I just don't know the right words to use in a search.

My download page (home page) showing the download does not refresh like it used to do in previous versions. I have tried to find a setting to activate or set the time of refreshing, can't find it.
I have to refresh manually now, that works but not nice to do everytime.

Version 0.7.9

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the Options dialog?

Hi Shypike, Top Right from what or where?
When I am on home or queue or any other tab I do not see a options dialog.
A question, are we talking about SABnzbd or SABnzbd+. Or is there no difference (same thing?).

When you use the standard skin there's a text at the top right of the page saying "Options".

Hi Shypike

OK, I changed to plush gold and found the options
changed the refresh to 8 seconds
it worked

but it worked only in plush gold and smpl, not in any of the Classic skins
Any idea how to get that to work?

Thanks

The classic skin has it hidden in one of the Config pages.

Hi Shypike

OK, I went to sabnzbd page again and looked, looked everywhere but could not find anything like refresh queue anyplace in the config page(s).

Then I went to help (while I still had a classic skin) and typed in "refresh". Had 5 hits:

1) Changelog History for SABnzbd 0.2.x
to 120 (required by many providers) Needed to hard-code this. Change it to your required value. The change is in newswrapper.py, line 15. added: Option to automatically refresh the Queue web page
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/history-0-2

2) Configure General
key Tuning Queue auto refresh interval If you want the queue display to be automatically refreshed, you can speify here the interval in seconds. RSS checking rate Interval in minutes between
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-general-v2

3) Configure General
Key This is the secret key that is needed in API calls. Note that when you click the Change button, you'll need to tell your utilities the new key. Tuning Queue auto refresh interval If you want
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-general

4) Configure: General
the HTTPS key Tuning Queue auto refresh interval If you want the queue display to be automatically refreshed, you can speify here the interval in seconds. RSS checking rate Interval in minutes
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-general-0-7

5) Introducing 0.6.0
resuming, it will no longer be marked as a duplicate (after the next page refresh). Please note that this feature requires the NZB Backup option too, otherwise it will only work for RSS entries
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/introducing-0-6-0

From these 5 hits 1 to 4 have text pertaining to Queue auto refresh interval.

If I click on 2) I then see

Tuning

Queue auto refresh interval
If you want the queue display to be automatically refreshed, you can speify here the interval in seconds.

RSS checking rate
Interval in minutes between checking the RSS feeds (at least 15 min.)

Download Speed Limit
If your downloads block all other traffic, you can reduce the download speed. Specify the maximum download speed to limit by in kilobytes per second (KB/s)

Article Cache Limit
How much memory (RAM) can be used for caching (reducing disk access). 0=Disable Cache -1= Unlimited cache number = Maximum memory (in bytes) to use for cache. See "High speeds" for more information. You enter the amount in bytes but you can use factors like K, M, G etc. eg: 70M = 70megabyte cache

Cleanup List
List of file (extensions) that should be deleted in the cleanup stage. Examples: .nfo, .nfo, .sfv (You can leave out the dots, so nfo, nzb, sfv will do the same.)

So then I go to the config and go to General, Tuning

I see

Tuning
Download Speed Limit
Download rate limit (in KB/s - kilobytes per second).

Article Cache Limit
Cache articles in memory to reduce disk access.
In bytes, optionally follow with K,M,G. For example: "64M" or "128M"

Cleanup List
List of file extensions that should be deleted after download.
For example: .nfo or .nfo, .sfv

Thats it, here nothing about the queue refresh rate.
Can't find it anyplace in the config either.

I think a while back during a update they forgot to put the adjustment in the tuning place, and later added the adjustment of the queue refresh rate in the plush gold skin.

The adjustment is in the Help file, but not in the configuration menu at all.

Queue auto refresh interval
If you want the queue display to be automatically refreshed, you can speify here the interval in seconds.
That's the one.

Just like the OP posted above, there is no way to adjust the refresh interval in the classic skin in v 7.9. I just upgraded to 7.9 from an older version and looked for it under tuning. It's not there. I switched to the plush skin and it's set for 30 seconds and refreshes every 30 seconds. I went back to the classic skin and it refreshes every 60 seconds, because that's what I had it set for previously.

Like skeeber says, it should be in the Tuning, but it is NOT there. I think they forgot to put it in for some reason.

Skeeber, thats a good tip. What it means is that somewhere in the init file there must be an item that says refresh and then a number.
Maybe if you have the time you could look and see if you can find it in the init file, the line which says that. If you can, thanks! Just publish the line here if you can.

I think I may know the source of confusion.
Are you using the full Classic skin or are you using the (default) mixed skin where all Config pages are done by the "modern" overlay?
The original Classic Config pages do have the option of setting a refresh rate.
However the "modern" Config overlay does not.
Only when you configure the full Classic skin by setting the option uniconfig off in Config->Special, you'll get the full original Classic skin.

Don't get used to Classic, it will be dropped in the next major release.
We're not sure yet what we'll do with "smpl".

I am using Classic - Classic, and if Classic is dropped in the next release I surely will look elsewhere for something else because I don't like the Plush or the Smpl skins at all.
Pity because I like sabnzbd and have used it for years and years.

I found how I can correct the refresh rate.
It was by my init file:
Refresh rate = 0

I closed down sabnzbd and changed it to 7, saved.
Then restarted sabnzbd and it worked.

Its just the option that is missing in the classic skins...

Classic is terrible at handling long queues and histories, due to its primitive setup.
Plush isn't well liked by everyone and we are looking at restyling it,
more like the new Config skin. There's no timeframe defined, unfortunately.
Maintaining three skins is just too much work.
Having said that, the Main, Queue and History pages need little maintenance to keep them at least usable.
But maintenance of the "Classic" and "smpl" config pages will definitely stop.

So this topic is pretty old and I don't think it's still needed but I also had this issue and googled on it.
It brought me to this page and gave me some good pointers.
I've solved the challenge on my Synology NAS and if somebody also find this lost topic via Google, I hope it helps them.
My first reply as a new signed up user and straight a small tutorial ;)

How to change classic skin of Sabnzbd on Synology to auto refresh

* First confirm SSH is enabled on control panel of NAS (Under Terminal)
* Locate Sabnzbd ini file (Under "sabnzbd, config" for me it is "/usr/local/sabnzbd/var/config.ini")
* Decide where the temp ini file should go and right click that folder (in your NAS File station) to see exact name (I used "/volume1/web")
* Download Putty (http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/lat ... /putty.exe)
* Open Putty and make sure SSH is enabled in the tool (port 22)
* Enter Ip address of NAS and choose "Open"
username=root
password=The password you have set for the account with the name "admin"
* Make a normal prompt so you know where you are

Code: Select all

export PS1='\h(\u)\W> '
* Copy the ini file to the temp folder

Code: Select all

cp /usr/local/sabnzbd/var/config.ini /volume1/web
* Browse to it with your normal windows explorer and open it with WordPad (RightClick)
* Search for "refresh" (ctrl F) and change the value from "0" to "8" (or any other second you choose but 1 eats resources)
* Exit and save changes
* Copy the new ini file back to where it belongs

Code: Select all

cp /volume1/web/config.ini /usr/local/sabnzbd/var/config.ini
* Restart Sabnzbd (Settings, General and there should be a button)

Small tips:
for removing something via Putty from your NAS

Code: Select all

rm /volume1/web/config.ini
If you are unable to remove the ini file from your temp folder make sure the permissions are open for all

Code: Select all

chmod -r a+x,a+r,a+w /volume1/web/config.ini

I don't see anything anywhere else about this (or at least not with a solution) and the programme just stopped refreshing.
I have never used another skin and i can find options, but the auto refresh simply does not happen any more. I changed the number of seconds but still nothing, restart of sabnzb... nothing...
Any ideas?
