Problems with missing blocks and downloads stopping

New here!

I have been using SABNZBD for a good few years now and was a regular user of NZBMatrix etc, since that site and others have been taken down I have noticed that most of my downloads fail and have missing blocks. This never used to be the case, yes on occasion but now its happening with every NZB I download.

I am currently on Astraweb and my ISP is Virgin Media, anyone else experiencing this?

Probably DMCA takedowns.
But set retries higher in Config->Switches anyway.

I had similar issues several months ago. I ended up switching my usenet provider setup around. Before I was on Astraweb unlimited, I changed my plan to just a block account there for fill, got Supernews unlimited, and also added a second fill from Blocknews.net -- no idea which particular fix did it (I did them all at once), but I rarely see any fails. It happens, sure, but not that often, maybe 1 or 2 a month, and I have about 500-700 GB/month that I download. My feeling on issues like this is just "build some redundancy in" and the problem usually fixes itself (second unlimited + block, or just change your main + add a block, something else). I also do go manually get old stuff like movies or older shows from the indexers directly (as opposed to CP/SB auto-downloads) and those rarely have issues either (excepting of course something with 20 comments saying it failed for everyone).

No idea what the default is, but my Config->Switches is set to 3 personally.

Completion is often an all or nothing issue nowadays.
When the server is a bit slow to react and the time-out is tight,
then the amount of allowed retries may matter.

I have moved to Supernews and seems to be working well!
