the frequency with which the Lion version crashes is not as bad as the ML version...so definitely an improvement in my case.syd3n wrote:Even the Lion version is crashing for me. I just installed over the previous version.
Will appreciate any further suggestions.

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
I have a mac pro with 16GB of memory, so I don't see where hardware can be much of an issue
I'm not a programmer, so the crash reports don't help me too much other than to tell me when the crash happens, which is usually between 1 - 4am local time. Perhaps there's a maintenance task taking place during that window. Anyways, I'm no good at figuring out what causes a problem, so I decided to just treat the symptom. I came across a program called Lingon which will detect a crash and restart an application immediately after it goes down. It is $10 and it worked like a charm at 3:30am today. http://www.peterborgapps.com/lingon/

That program will partially solve the issue, or rather treat the symptoms.
The reason the logs are of little use to me is that they show that Apple-provided run-time libraries crash.
This clearly suggests that those are buggy.
Possibly only under specific circumstances that are created by SABnzbd.
The trouble is that for me it's impossible to solve those bugs; the only thing I can do is trying to
avoid creating the circumstances that lead to the bugs being hit.
This is made very very difficult because I have never been able to reproduce the issue on either of my two Apple systems.
It will take some more time, but I will try to get SABnzbd going on an alternative Python interpreter.

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
this issue seems to be creeping up on my now.
mac mini 2011
10.8, etc.
is the crashlog the most helpful next step and should i try the lion version or the 0.7.10 version?
thanks

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
I have made zero progress with this issue.
Alternative Python interpreters (like ActiveState) don't work properly with later OSX releases.
So far I have never been able to reproduce any of these crash reports.

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
One thing (although not strictly tested): i have 0.7.11 on 10.8.3 now running for 3 days. Before these 3 days, it wouldn't run longer than a couple of hours. Only thing I changed is, that I do *not* keep the web page (on a client monitoring the sabnzbd server) open as usual. But it might also be by chance...
It would be nice to get more debug logging in any protocol.

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
I'm having the same intermittent crashes, but I'm running sabnzbd on my Synology NAS.
Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
That will have an effect, since the skin sends regular queries to SABnzbd (up to two per second).JustAnotherJDoe wrote:Only thing I changed is, that I do *not* keep the web page (on a client monitoring the sabnzbd server) open as usual.

More logging is not likely to give clues. It definitely crashes inside Apple own run-time libraries.
So far, I have my hopes on the next major release which have a lot of changes and a newer version
of the internal web server.

You cannot have the same crashes, you're not using OSX.mofofofo wrote:I'm having the same intermittent crashes, but I'm running sabnzbd on my Synology NAS.
If you have more info, please start your own thread.
Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
Is there an update on this issue? I updated to 7.12 and still experience the same problem.
Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
Like I've told more people: there will be no solution until I can reproduce this.
Maybe 0.8.0 will solve it, due to the large number of changes and the updated web framework.

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
I'm having this same issue
Retina MBP (latest) - 16GB RAM
10.8.4
0.7.13
Fingers crossed for 0.8

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
I'm starting to think that keeping all Sab tabs closed overnight does actually "fix" the issue as well. Seems to have been OK for a few days since I've been doing that.
That may give you a place to start at least (fairly new to OSX so while I'm aware some scripts can run overnight, I'm not really sure what sort of effect that'd have on this).

Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
Same issue here, MacOs Mountain Lion (on mac mini) + SABnzbd Version: 0.7.13
Re: 0.7.11 Intermittently Quits [OS X]
So I've gone through every version from 0.7.16 down to 0.7.2 ...... and finally at 0.7.2 I have now lasted 3 days without a quit.
Each time I installed, I used either the 10.8 version or just the "& Higher" version, for the earlier versions.
As suggested I did try installing the different versions on the new releases, but this did not help.
In summary, if you are having this problem, try using 0.7.2
If it works, please post. I'm not a dev, but perhaps a change implemented to 0.7.3 that has carried on to later versions, caused a problem with an OS update that didn't happen until around the 0.7.11 release?
