Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
The speed always drops down at the end, this because at the end not all sockets can be used any more.
We have seen some reports of stalling downloads at the end.
The cause is usually a server not responding to a missing article.
Please check the file overview of the job (click on the title).
If the list is empty, then we're certainly dealing with a bug in SABnzbd.

I have a similar problem, up until the latest update on my Synology I was getting the max speed possible on my fibre connection.
Since the update it seems throttled at 1.5 MB/s. Never gets any higher.
I'm used to getting double this speed on it and haven't changed anything, just updated it last week.

What happens if you go back to an earlier release?
Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
I'm really getting frustrated with this issue. I've been trying to track it down still, but i am not really having any luck. I have noticed a couple of things that appear to be happening when the speed drops. At this point, the speed consistantly stays below 500KB/sec. Probably around 80% of the time.
1. it appears that when the speed is slow, sabnzbd is just NOT using my primary usenet server. The connection log shows that it is only connected to my back up server. There doesn't appear to be any way to force it to use my primary server as well. Disabling my backup server just stops all downloads. I don't know if it thinks that the articles just aren't available on my primary and will only use my backup? I test it by using newsbin pro and use the same nzb file, and newsbin maxes out my 100mb connection, so the articles are definitely ON my primary server and available for download. (i just tested this again as i'm writing this and its consistent)
2. it is pretty consistently doing this only for certain types of files. TV shows mostly. It will be chugging along downloading at 500kb/sec (ish) and then a new movie nzb or something is added by couchpotato or even myself, and the connection is maxed out for that file.
Not sure if this is any new information or if it even helps, but at this point sab really just isn't doing what i need it to and i'm not sure how to fix it.
Any new ideas, thoughts, or questions?

What you see is usually a sign that the primary server doesn't have the post (or misses most of it).
When a primary server doesn't have a post, SABnzbd still needs to ask it about each article.
This is easy to test.
Disable backup server and when the speed then drops to almost 0 (with the same NZB),
its a sure sign that the primary server simply doesn't have the post.
There is one potential other problem.
Please check the option Config->Switches->"Fail on yEnc CRC Errors".
When it's on, set it to off. When it's already off, just keep it off.
There are some less likely scenarios where enabling this option can lead to problems.

Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
As i mentioned in my last post however, when i use the same NZB file in newsbin pro, it connects and finds the articles fine.
I did as you suggested and disabled the "Fail on yEnc CRC Errors". Will see if that helps at all.

Any of you have roommates? Bandwidth competition can be a pain at times.

Hi,
I had the same problem and I could bring it down to the hibernate mode. After hibernation the downloadspeed collapsed.
SInce a few months I use another news server and I start using SSL connections on port 553.
The guy in the following post: http://www.jdhodges.com/blog/slow-nzb-d ... ed-solved/ suggested that you should change the port when possible.
My provider accepts 443 also so I changed that an I am at max speed even after the laptop hibernated.
Perhaps this will work for you .
Happy leeching

Same issue here. I am past frustrated. It was fine until last night. Now I hardly get any downloading done. I have tested on other previous downloads that were successful and same hing so it is not missing on the server.
It is def sanzbd side. I also tested on another ISP at work on my laptop and same thing.

It's not very useful to claim "same issue", since people here are describing different problems (although they make look similar from a user perspective).eldreddb wrote:Same issue here. Please describe what happens in your case under which circumstances.
Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
My download speed is down to around 0-5 kbps since yesterday. I haven't changed anything. All other p2p downloads work fine. I have tried to run sanzbd on my laptop under different ISP and same thing happens. I have also tried to download previous successful downloads and same thing.
I have cleared all previous downloads in downloads folder. Sanzbd is doing this on both PC's under different circumstances.

Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
Might be a problem even with my usenetserver account?
Re: sabnzbd download speeds drop to almost 0
Either that or the posts have simply been removed from the server. That happens a lot.
The fastest test is to install another Usenet client (I recommend Grabit) and test an NZB
that failed with SABnzbd.

You could also just download a test file from alt.binaries.test or a Linux distro like Ubuntu.
