I noticed some TVDB errors in the logs. So that's the problem then? I'm assuming this normally works great

Use sickbeard almost every day now, very nice and helpfull utility! anyway i did encounter a problem today.
I have a retention of about 600 days with my usenet provider, but even after setting the usenet retention in the sickbeard configuration to a maximum of 600 days it is still fetching nzb's from over 750 days old from nzmatrix. How come?

I've been having a weird problem. All of a sudden SickBeard will not find any shows.
For a test I am trying to download Rubicon 1x07 (which was previously downloaded on 09/05/10 from SB).
When I hit search I see the following line in my log:
Sep-08 13:18:02 INFO CP Server Thread-8 :: No downloads were found

That is wrong because Rubicon is set to be HD and that is the exact same file that SB downloaded on 09/05/10, what would make it not grab it all of the sudden?
Thanks
EDIT - Looks like it was my fault. If I marked that same episode as missed and hit search it would find it no problems. I thought in the past I could tell SB to manually search for old eps and it would work, must have changed at some point and I never noticed.

HI
first of all great thing this program works as a charm
2 things i would like to propose for change though
first of all
search for new shows ....
all my folders are in scene format ... with this is mean no spaces but dots in my show names
programs doesn't parse out the dots so i need to search for nearly all my shows manually ...
second
my archive system is based on seen / not seen
so some shows i have seen like 2 seasons and then got a backlog that i didn't see yet
so this means they are on 2 different raid drives
now the program only recognizes 1 location
would be nice if the program scanned both folders and merged them in the database
for the rest it works like a charm and saves me a lot of time doing things manually

@midgetspy
How does SickBeard determine what release to get?
For example Haven s01e08.
Initital Quality was set to HD but for some reason SB downloaded a "unknown group" release with WEB in there release name instead of the more known group version.
Is there a way to filter WEB release when SB found multiple options ?
Update:
I think i found the problem.
If you see this part of SickBeard log file
http://pastebin.com/7LABFUy1
You'll notice that it found a quality matching version and was given the number 8
After SB found that he also found another quality matching version marked as 4 but for some reason he grabbed the version marked with number 8 instead of 4.
SB should wait after processing a release until he doesn't find a better matching item.

Well it depends .. if Quality 8 is higher then quality 4 ..... then SB did what it needed to do.
I believe that SB will always get the best/highest quality it finds at the moment it makes the search ....
(so a releases posted 2 hours later will not be found anymore)

I don't think a higher number is better quality but midgetspy can answer that.
I also believe that it would pick biggest/highest quality it found but here it failed imo, well not really failed but when WEB is in a release i have my question marks with it.
I don't argue with your 2 hour release statement but if you check times this is/was 1 batch.

anyway how to disable the backlog for a while?
thing is going crazy
slowing down my sabnzb to a strowl
guess it is somewhat understandable with 360 shows and more then 16.000 episodes... where to as there as 20.000 to be expected
so this thing wants to dld 4000 episodes
(or whatever he can find)
anyway the problem is that i run out of sockets when this thing is searching the backlog and tries to get nzb's for the missing or updated quality nzb's
2010-09-13 15:33:34.115000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:34:07.116000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:35:08.502000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:35:41.513000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:36:14.532000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:36:47.534000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:37:20.535000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
2010-09-13 15:37:53.624000 SEARCH :: Unable to connect to SAB: [Errno socket error] timed out
so i just want to stop the backlog for a while till i can update all the backlog in sabnzb
cause when i stop sickbeard then the problem goes away and sab uses then my whole bw ... if sickbeard runs and is doing backlog then it goes up and down from 20K to 600K

heheeh
a lot of old shows in there going back all the way till the 60's
i am collecting all this stuff
running raid5's to be sure i don't loose stuff...
next month with my bonus going for a professional storage system with raid 6
anyway upped the days in there till like 500
but i guess once the update started you can not stop it ?
even with shutting it down it begins again after a while when i restart sickbeard
here is the footer from sickbeard
474 shows (180 active) | 20131/27272 episodes downloaded
Search: 0:42:00 | Backlog: Wednesday

Go to Manage Shows<--- Manage Searches <---- and Pause the backlog search that is running
