Free Newsservers

Re: Free Newsservers
For those of you having problems with IPv6 Eweka, specifically "Connection denied to your node" particularly if it works with Newsleecher or some other stand alone usenet client one thing to make sure is you don't have a username and password set for the server. Eweka doesn't accept a username and password (or perhaps it only accepts valid ones from actual subscribers) so if you have one set it won't work. If you have saved username and password for the weblogin, currently browsers may recognise the username and password field for the server as well and automatically fill them in. You have to remove both fields and save (or add server). If you change connections, change from backup to non backup etc then you may save a username and password without realising. Since the username and password will come back by itself (autofilled in by browser) you may not know if it's saved without the username and password or not. Perhaps a simple option is to change the username save and then when you have confirmed it's saved properly, removed the username and password then save again. You should then end up with the webserver loging username/password again. Alternatively you can check the config files manually.

Yes, of course.
I'm using newszilla and downloading at around 600KB/s.
I don't have native IPv6 so I use Hexago too to get IPv6 network support.

Re: Free Newsservers
Ok, I've moved to Sixxs and I must admit that although speed seems similar, ping times have dropped from ~95 to ~65ms.
That's the only difference I've noticed and I cannot tell 100% for sure that it has to do with this change in IPv6 provider.
Though I have to admit that Hexago subscription was substancially easier and faster.
I mean, there should be a guide on how to use Sixxs for IPv6...

Re: Free Newsservers
so what's the total list of free ipv4 servers? just the 2 on the main page?
Re: Free Newsservers
Is anyone else having trouble with newszilla6.xs4all.nl? The other two I have is Eweka and xsnews, which both seem to work fine. I can't actually ping ipv6 addresses, although they do connect in sabnzbd.

Re: Free Newsservers
public.teranews.com server is not down. It accepts connections although download seems to be unavailable due to too many connections on their servers.
As for newszilla6.xs4all.nl, their server accepts connections but then it doesn't allow for downloads. I mean, that is using IPv6 from sixxs.net because when I try using Hexagon's gogoNET connection it works, poorly but it works. Once in a while downloads stop and then it resumes for a couple of minutes, etc.

Yes, it's been down for me for the last month or so.sporadic wrote: Anyone else having trouble with news.ipv6.eweka.nl? i can't connect for allmost 2 weeks now, really frustrating :\
Re: Free Newsservers
newszilla6.xs4all.nl is the only server I can connect to right now for free for the last week. Is there another server working right now? I am using the ipv6 tunnel.
