    Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.

Which OS version are you using?
Don't expect a quick solution, as your's is the only report of its kind.
Is the UI behaviour normal, I mean, does the slowness limit itself to downloading?

So far I'm even getting reasonable performance from a MountainLion
session running under VMWare Fusion.
Which one is your Usenet provider?

OS Version = 10.8 Build 12A269 (but was happening even with 10.7.4)
Yes, only downloading is slow.

I am having the same issue. on grabit i am seeing speeds of 3000 KB\s and in SAB i am only gettin 300-500 KB\s
I have tried switching from SSL to normal. no change. this test was done with the same .nzb
my speed test results are 28.14Mbps.
any ideas?

How many connections did you set in Config->Servers?
