Re: Slow download with 0.7.4

It says Download Failed and then asks something about whether or not the download is outside of my retention. This only happens on larger files like movies. I can download a 1G tv show slowly but it finishes (after and hour or longer). Movie files just sort of slow to a crawl and then fail. The post on the server should be there. Its there everyday I have logged back on. I am trying the download again and am only getting 140B/s. Is this a mac related issue?

It has to be a Mac related issue because I just tried downloading on my Windows 7 computer and was downloading at 2.5MB/s. Any ideas what to check for on the Mac?

"Out of retention" can mean it is really too old
but also that the post has been removed from the server.
The latter happens quite frequently nowadays.
It's also possible that the post was very young and was't on the server yet.
A later download with Windows might then be succesful.
It's definitely not a Mac issue.
Do you have exactly the same Usenet server settings on both systems?
BTW: the low "speed" is caused by the missing articles.
Because SABnzbd receives very little info for missing articles, the speed looks very low.

Oh I see. I will wait until tomorrow and see if maybe the download improves since it is a newly uploaded file. I will also try some other files as well and see what happens. Thank you for the explanations.

Something is not right. My download speeds suck and I don't know where the bottle neck is happening. I tried downloading files that I downloaded in the past at normal speed and now they less than half that speed. Please tell me what I need to check. There are no missing articles, the user account is the same, the posts are not too young or old and haven't been removed. Its frustrating because I paid for a subscription for usenet and now i can't use it.

First try an alternative Usenet client.
This will at least give you some suggestions where to look.

Hi

I have the same problem with SABnzbd. All download goes under 1KB/s since a week or two. If I try the same NZB with the same servers but with another client, it goes full speed..

What could be the problem ?

Aren't you just looking at the pre-download check?

Go back to an older version then.

I am having the same problem. My download speeds are around 72 kbps.
I also have these 2 warnings:

Too many connections to server news.optonline.net:119

API Key incorrect, Use the api key from Config->General in your 3rd party program: Python-urllib/2.6

I did set the number of connections correctly in the configurations tab.

Any ideas to solve the problem?

Disable the option "disconnect on empty queue" in Config->Switches.
Make sure the timeout in Config->Servers is at least 60.

The API warning is not related, there's some utility that wants to connect to SABnzbd.
