Giganews may be technically good and all that, but from purely a $ perspective esp at times like this(unless you are an AIG/Wall Street exec thriving on our taxes ;-) astraweb at $11/month is great value. 

Giganews's $12.95/month special is good, but as usual it is just for 3 months.  If only they had similar pricing to astraweb, I would switch, but hey competition is good.

I've been using astraweb for about two months now, zero complaints.

Yeah I second Astraweb. I switched from Giganews paying $30 a month and I'm actually getting faster and more reliable transfers from Astra for $12 a month.

I also switched from Giganews $30 a month to Astraweb $11 a month about 2 months ago.  I can't tell any difference.  I am very happy.
