Hi probably that line wasn't correct
when I start SABnzbdmanually and then /etc/init.d/SABnzbd stop
it stops the program so that part works !
but starting still not now it asked me for the pasword for root and after I gave that
/etc/init.d/SABnzbd start

Update from IRC: I've suggested to nuke everything he's got (since it seems the install is a bit mucked up) and install from the debs here: http://www.mbastiaan.nl/sabnzbd.php
