Supernews is trying to foist this problem off on SABNZBd still.  I have been going back and forth with them over the issue, but they refuse to acknowledge the problem to me.

This is NOT a problem with SABNZBd as I can duplicate this error in a Telnet session.  I have sent them logs of the telnet sessions, but they still refuse to admit that it's a server side problem.

1. Change your password(s) will NOT work.  (Tested and verified)
2. Changing to/from SSL will NOT work. (Tested and verified)
3. Changing software will NOT work. (Tested and verified)
4. Reducing/changing the amount of connections will NOT work. (Tested and verified)

In short, there's nothing you can do to solve this problem.  It's a server side problem, as inpheaux has already said, basically.  It's purely a server issue and will need to be addressed on that end.

I finally got through to an engineer at Supernews today.  They've finally acknowledged the problem is server side and that they have made changes / fixed it.

Is anyone else having any problems connecting now?

Inaba,

Supernews is working for me with an 8 character password containing special characters, numbers and letters of different cases.

Have things changed for your connection issues with Supernews with respect to this authentication problem?
