Haven't connected today, so I can't say anything about their speed.
But I can say that Monday and Tuesday I was pulling 1000KBytes/s on XSNews.
Maybe I can give it a go later today.
Cheers

Still pulling in only 50-100 KB/sec for both newszilla and XS News. Maybe I'm not doing something right or something isn't configured properly? Getting way better speeds w/ Just4today - around 500KB/sec. Not GREAT (my top speed is 2 Meg's/sec), but decent. So w/e problem I have it's either Gogo6 and my IPv6 tunnel, or a problem on their end.
For gogo6, I'm using "authenticated.freenet6.net" as my connection server. Tunnel mode set to IPv6 in UPD IPv4 Tunnel (NAT Traversal). Setting set to "Connect to Best Server" (which winds up being montreal.freenet6.net).
So, any ideas for the slow speeds? Thx in advance for any input!

Strange: you have a non-Teredo/Miredo address 2001:5c0:1400

What happens if you add ipv6-only newszilla6.xs4all.nl as newsserver?
If SAB can't reach that server either, there is probably something wrong with your name resolution. If your OS is not the problem, it could be your modem/router or ISP's DNS. You could set 8.8.8.8 as your nameserver to bypass modem/router and ISP.
Hello!
Sorry, for not answering earlier. I had a very busy week.
ipv6.google.com is perfectly working for me.

I'm not sure what you mean?
There shouldn't be a problem with the name resolution because I can ping reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl without problems:
Code: Select all
>ping reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl -6
Pinging reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl [2001:67c:174:101::5] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 2001:67c:174:101::5: time=253ms
Reply from 2001:67c:174:101::5: time=246ms
Reply from 2001:67c:174:101::5: time=251ms
Reply from 2001:67c:174:101::5: time=241ms
I really don't know what's wrong here.

gogo6 is throttled use HE or sixxs

XS News exposes odd behaviour at times. This is what python's socket.getaddrinfo(...) has to say about XS News, the two queries being only about a minute ot two minutes apart:

Somehow their round robin / load balancing seems to fail with SABnzbd at times:

HE = ?
I've tried signing up at Sixxs but was denied an account as they need my "valid" private info. Sounds like BS to me. Is it possible to sign up w/o giving away pertinent and private data (i.e. address, phone #, name, etc.)?

sander,
Could you post an up to date version of your newsserver-multi-check.py (or also seen as nmc3.py) ? I downloaded the copy in your previous post but it does not work correctly. Would love to be able to test my own customized lists to find more free servers that are worth it... Thanks

Hey, Could anyone help me or point me in the direction of a guide to setup HE (tunnelbroker.net) on Windows XP so it will work with Sabnzbd+

Is anyone else having an issue connecting to reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl through sixxs? Was working fine the other day.

This reader needs username and password. Registration is free (no cost).

test.news-service.com:119 is up Ipv4 10-20 connections (could be more haven't tested it to much) retention around 400+ days.

I often seem to be getting Operation timed out for this server - have you solved it? would it help if I just used i.e. 2001:67c:174:101::5 as address?

@Nemesis: are you using miredo/teredo (=built-in IPv6 in Windows vista / 7). I sometimes have the idea the response of xsnews via miredo/teredo is a bit less than via native IPv6.
I've enriched my newsserver-test with a dual test: via native IPv6 and via tunneled IPv6, both for xsnews and newszilla.
See
http://www.appelboor.com/newsserver.txt
Example output:
Code: Select all
spawn telnet -b 2001:1b60:1010:1:native:native:native:fff3 reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl nntp
201 reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl NNRP Service Ready (no posting).
spawn telnet -b 2001:0:teredo:64c:c95:12de:abec:59d7 reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl nntp
201 reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl NNRP Service Ready (no posting).
spawn telnet -b 2001:1b60:1010:1:native:native:native:fff3 newszilla6.xs4all.nl nntp
201 dreader33.news.xs4all.nl NNRP Service Ready - [email protected] (no posting).
spawn telnet -b 2001:0:teredo:64c:c95:12de:abec:59d7 newszilla6.xs4all.nl nntp
